It's a nice bike, but for that kind of coin I'd also be taking a really hard look at the new KTM 1290 Super Duke R. They don't fall into the exact same category, but they're similar enough in price and what they offer that I think people will cross shop the two.

I agree ... had that bike been out a few months ago, at a dealer willing to let you test drive it, I would have cross-shopped for sure.
 
It is warranted for 2 years and the first major service is not until 24000 kms.
However, Ducati do not offer an extended service after the warranty runs out.
Then what?
