SPOILER ALERT!!!! SPOILER ALERT!!!! SPOILER ALERT!!!! SPOILER ALERT!!!! SPOILER ALERT!!!! SPOILER ALERT!!!! SPOILER ALERT!!!! SPOILER ALERT!!!! Highlight text to see:

This is why Season 5 is better than 6. Pick one thing from season 5 that didn't make any sense or wasn't explained in enough detail? Ok, maybe the girl leaving at the end was a little random but it's still somewhat believable. Sure the story didn't really have any shocking twists but it all made sense and considering the HUGE change from the ending of Season 4 I thought the season recovered pretty well.

Now take season 6 now, this socially awkward yet super smart serial killer that's outsmarted numerous killers and has never been caught (Dexter) does the following things:
*Picks up and bangs a chick at a gas station in like 5 seconds
*Is outsmarted by some redneck and than sloppily kills him with a pitchforks, not even disposing of the body very well
*Randomly kills some mexican out of the blue with a harpoon in front of like 20 people
*Sends a serial killer pursued by the entire police department and FBI a video of himself cause you know, that couldn't be used as evidence
*THe killer paints a painting of Dexter, police department finds the crime scene and they wait for Dexter to go in first so he can destroy the paining before anyone sees it!?! WTTFF!? come on!!!
*A psychiatrist talks Debra into pursuing her incestuous feelings for her brother who she also works with and is his superior......where did she get her psych degree? Bought it off ebay?

Pure garbage!

i do believe Dexter has jumped the shark so to speak...

Anyone else notice Dexter has ZERO emotinal connection with his kid? i dunno if its the actor who cant portray it or is he meant to play that.

overall, the shows def peaked and now they just seem to be dragging the corpse. This season was atrocious. It started off good but it sank faster than Titanic.

Unfortunatelly most shows are like this. When they are good everyone wants to drag it out as long as possible to milk it for as long as possible. That causes the show to start sucking. Sopranos did that, Lost, Nip and Tuck, i'm sure there are tons more.

Entourage i think did it great...i really miss that show.

I try not to get too caught up in what's plausable or not. I mean, if you read some books, a lot of the story is entirely un-realistic.

True Blood is starting to get long in the tooth as well. But, Dexter and other shows on HBO and Showtime are better than the reality BS offerred on the other networks. SOA is so unrealistic but, I still enjoy it.

I can't remember a decent network tv show that has aired in the last 10 years or longer. Unless it was a cartoon.

It's not just about being "un-realistic" but when you spend 5 years developing a characters and than you have him do things that go completely against his character (acting dumb, constantly making stupid mistakes, etc.) without any reason or explanation it ruins the suspension of disbelief. Also ruins the suspense of him possible getting caught when the cops are written to act even dumber and don't react to any this.

I kinda lost interest after the second season. All Dexter did was sneak up behind people and jab them with a needle. He never really faced them toe to toe.

Dexter definitely jumped the shark for me. This whole season was crap, and at times was cheesy. The last scene of the last episode was a shocker, but I dunno if it was enough to salvage an otherwise bad season. Season 4 was the last great season!

He wasn't looking for a fight, he was looking for a kill.
