Define success

Despite having lived a rich and almost full life (see signature) I was still struggling with the definition of success. Recently I narrowed it down to a favourite after an inordinately long coffee/jawing session. Not to be flippant but my definition of success is the ability to waste time without stressing about it. What's yours?

Success can be a meaningless term, as there is no standardized way to measure it IMO. Happiness is something worth striving for, but can't be measured by income or material goods. That's not to say that financial stability isn't a good starting point for someone looking to grow in other areas of their life.

Ya, you're right.

By success I meant the opposite of failure. (some good fail videos on youtube for reference if needed) That feeling that there's always something missing no matter what you do or acquire.

From nature's point of view, it's whoever has the most children.

Isn't that destroying nature? We are over populated as it is already!

Guessing he meant from a Biological point of view.

I think overall to be successful just means that you have all the things that make you happy,

Why do people feel the need to come into forums and talk about how "successful" their life is blablabla..

People that really have a "rich" or successful life normally don't say anything

It's like fast riders, they normally don't show off or post their lap times or videos

Kind of sad really

ha ha nature isn't too bright. It's common to all life forms tho.
Altho it's not like we have to agree either.

.........

hah no kidding.

It's not just on forums. That's what most 'conversations' are about.
The other guy brags nonstop and you pretend to listen.

Well, 'success' can be looked at on a micro or a macro scale. i.e. small goals that we set and then succeed in, vs succeeding overall at life. But again, what looks like success to one particular person may not look so successful to someone else. Can someone be considered successful if they don't yet own a house? Can they be successful if they earn under 70K? I suppose it depends on what goals the individual has set, and whether they have met them. But ultimately many people remain unhappy, because once they have met certain goals they will always set their eye on the next one.
