DC plane crash

Here's footage, looks like the chopper flew into the plane

It's amazing that this doesn't happen more often. Screenshot from 6:00pm tonite.

In fairness, after this short period of time without the FAA having an administrator (10 days... ! ! !) it probably didn't make one whit of difference to the helicopter pilot or the airplane pilot or the air traffic controller whether the FAA had someone filling in the administrator role.

That’s most probably true however what this has shown us is Jabba the Gut’s character on full display and a nice insight into the fact that Trump’s undoing will be done by Trump himself. He cannot help himself when it comes to whiny incoherent statements but this one is at a time when people are mourning and he’s making political hay out of it.

So a feeder plane at four hundred ft alt as reported would be about one mile back from the runway on final approach, at that point pilot would expect nothing to be in his way .
They have a black boxes now so we may eventually hear if the plane saw anything before the crash .
Does that model Bombardier plane have auto land capability?

I don’t think they have auto land or auto throttles. That runway is short and at night it feels even shorter so at a mile back they would be concentrating on the correct profile. You wouldn’t be expecting traffic at that point.

Also a late runway change so less likely they reconfigure all computers for that.

Just wondering, my AC pilot buddy actually likes flying the plane , he says you can only watch so many movies and games crossing the Pacific . I envy his gig sort of , he’s in the drivers chair for takeoff and landings , then the other crew monitors the actual long flight . For a crap ton of money …..

He is probably one of the captains that are constantly coming in on the wrong lead in line:)
