So I rode to work today ... and gawd damnit ! I miss Cali and its lane splittingness... traffic is backed up and legally we aren't allowed to lane split ... ugh

I think its more important to have lane filtering, not so much splitting.

if you have legalized splitting then you will get filtering ...

it'd be easier to convince them to give us filtering than splitting.

Man I would be incredibly happy with filtering.

That's alot of trust to give the tools in cars around you

in Cali it works great ... they see you coming and they move over just a tad ... the only turds who don't do it ? are those with out of state plates... other then that they all did it over there ... at one point I remember following a gixxer on my buddies bike and i looked down we were doing almost 60mph ~ 100kph splitting while traffic was doing about 1/2 that or less ... i slowed down tho, felt like I was going too fast but you can safely do it 10-15mph over whatever traffic is doing ...

There's already too many posts for:
- Wanted: clean title
- Track bike for sale
- parts bike for sale
- i got hit by a stupid cager
- locked up my front end cuz of a stupid cager
- need new mirror/fairing
- hey, sartso jeans really work

We don't need more excuses.

Traffic is what it is. All caused by ppl not waiting their turns and cutting each other off, or butting in line and slowing lanes down as a result. I just try to stay patient or find another flowing route.

But what about construction?

North of Keele last night was BRUTAL.

Closed all the lanes except one.

I was so tempted to just jump on the sidewalk turn off bike, remove helmet and keys and just walk the bike.

I filter in heavy traffic, even had cops see me do it, they've never bothered me over it.

You were doing good until this post. :D Yes splitting and filtering in Cali works very well.... and filtering should be allowed here.

And what the heck are they gonna do about it in heavy traffic besides demonstrating a whole lot of futility?

All they can do is yell at you as you pass by,

The little ninjas are so easy to filter on, because they sit low and you can just tippy tow slowly up to the light. My current bike I can only put one foot down on the ground so filtering is not that practical anymore unless there is a lot of space.

down town its the best. u can ride safely around parked cars while all cars bust *** to the left lane. of course u have to ride a bit slower and look for clues that ppl might be walking out onto street or opening car doors

Most cagers are usually very considerate over here in California with respect to lane sharing/splitting (which is surprising, given how poorly most people drive over here).

I lane split on the way to work today, and I lane split/filter pretty much every time I ride :D

extremely dangerous to start lane filtering or lane splitting here in Toronto. Toronto drivers just don't have that mindset about letting motorcycles pass. They'll most likely move in to block you.

I think it'd take a while for Toronto drivers to adjust, but they will. But there will be a lot of injuries/fatalities before they adapt. I'm not willing to be a test subject.

That's due to toronto drivers and their 'me first' mentality.

Now indicators mean, 'watch the f out, i'm cutting you off...'

Corrected

Well - that is debatable. I actually think filtering is safer regardless of the current laws. Splitting.... ya that might take a while and would be a bit more dicey.

One thing is for sure, there would be less motorcyclists getting nailed from behind while stopped in traffic.

I understand lane splitting.. but I don't really understand the filtering term.. can someone explain. I think tactics work like that in cali cause the highways seem way more open.. I don't know if the lanes are bigger or just the shoulders of the highways but whenever I drive there (even in traffic) it doesn't seem so conjected..
