Daily riding with One Piece

I wear one piece at all times. It prevents me from saying its too hot today i'll just wear the jacket. Thats the day you will need a full suit. I rode one time in the last 30 years without it, on my way to pick up my suit after getting zipper replaced and had to lane split at a stop light because lady behind me was not stopping, she hit the car I was stopped behind. And if you want to do a trackday with pro6, i'm pretty sure this year its one piece only.

Im pretty sure getting rear-ended at a stop light, a suit would make a negligible difference in that particular scenario vs. Wearing even a basic Icon jacket.

Either way, if I had to put on a full suit to go grab a coffee a few blocks away, I would never ride

Buy the two piece new for everyday riding. Watch kijiji or classifieds here for a used one piece for trackdays. Best of both worlds.

Anytime I get on my bike I burn a tank of fuel before stopping, if it's a few blocks for coffee, I will ride my bicycle. And I always wear a back protector, just in case I get rear ended.

I use kevlar jeans and kevlar lined denim jacket that has shoulder, elbow and back pads. It might not have the "ultimate" level of protection, like a race suit, but they won't wear through if I slide across the pavement (I have once and didn't).

A leather suit won't help if you're pinned against something or you're hit from the side and have your leg crushed against the bike. Bones will still crush and organs will still squish.

Arriving in one piece, yes.
Arriving in a one piece, no.

Ha!

My point was that the one time you don't wear your gear is the day you will need it, watching mirrors while stopped is what saved my *** that day, but if I had my suit on it most likely would not have happened.

Good point. Especially watching the mirrors.

I have a 1 piece areostich suit. I can get in and out of it faster than a 2 piece and I can wear my office clothes under the suite so it is easy. I have even worn a suit under the suit.

That makes no sense. You're saying if you had a 1pc suit on the lady would not have smacked into the back of the car in front of you???? So it wasn't your attention to traffic that saved you?

I wear different gear depending on what I'm going to be doing. A full suit( 1pc or 2) will protect you in a slide. It won't do anything if you get hit by a car. You have to pay attention and not expect the cagers to watch out for you. That and don't be a stupid rider.

It only makes sense to Murphy and his sympathizers/fans of his laws.

OT: I'm a 2-piece suit wearer, cuz I (mostly) use my whip for commuting to work. Overpants w/ "impact protection" over the business pants, leather jacket & boots, gloves etc. For casual rides, or casual fridays I'll wear a pair of kevlar-lined denims with separate knee-guards underneath and all the other gear.

ATGATT, sure, but I don't wanna be a power ranger.

That is what I'm saying, if the lady saw the power Ranger she most likely would have stopped in time. People can wear whatever they like, I prefer as much protection as possible.

That's a stretch. Especially when they hit big rigs. Counting on cagers to see us is not an option. I'm all for visible gear, but don't count on it against inattentive cagers.

The first time I wore a 1pc on the street...I got a speeding ticket. lol

Aaaahahaha!!

I actually got pulled over the first time I wore one on the street too. I just got it the week before and had been wearing it around the house to work it in.

It was late at night and there was a dead animal on the QEW between Hamilton and Grimsby. I clipped it and guts went everywhere so I pulled over on the shoulder to check my bike. There was a highway overpass about 500m ahead. I launched on to the highway and cherries went on as I passed a hidden cop on the other side of the over pass.

They didn't give me a speeding ticket (said they clipped me at 130km) but gave me a $110 fine for not having my drivers license on me. Forgot it in my daily riding jacket!!
