Cycle World Superstore Misery - Never again

I have been looking for my next bike for a few months. Wanted an R1 but after looking at insurance I decided the R6 was the way to go. I have been scouring Kijiji, Craigslist, you name it looking for the right bike and sure enough Cycle World had it. I should have read the GTA postings before I went.

I saw it and it was sweet. All stock except for aftermarket signal lights, full LED light kit and a slightly worn rear tire, under 10'km. The price was right. I dealt with JIM! Seemed nice enough but found that once the deal is done there your out of luck.

I scheduled a pickup date and called 3 days prior and asked if it would be ready. He asked if the service department had called, I said no.... He said when they call it's ready. No Call. I called the day of pickup because I had a good drive to get it. He said it wasnt ready, the mechanic was still looking at it, they had a month to get it ready!! He said to call back 1/2 hour before the shop closed?? I did and he said the work was done but still needed to be test driven. We were put on hold and we heard the mechanic tearing a strip off Jim for bringing the bike to him at the end of the day! I asked if I could get it on the Sunday, Jim said they dont release bikes on Sundays :confused1:... Monday rolled around, I called again, they said it still wasnt ready!!!!!!!! I sent a nasty email hoping the owner could help me, no reply.

Finally Monday afternoon it was ready. The sales guy (not Jim) said to me.. get this... " You can come buy but if I'm busy with a customer, you'll have to wait. I work on commission and cant afford to lose a customer." Dude, you are a piece of work. Nothing but attitude from these guys. I hopped in the car and had to wait about 1/2 hour when I got there and finally got the bike. While I was gearing up the service manager apologised for the hastle saying Jim dropped the ball. I was glad he came forward until I looked at the bike closer. I was ******! He removed all the led lights and kept them, Removed the custom signal lights and kept them, replaced the rear tire for the safety with a Shinko :( when a Power Pilot was only a few dollars more. The tank was banging when I rode it home. it was missing the tank hold down bolt and the tank side bolts were missing the bushing. So much for buying a bike from a dealer.

So.. I bought a bike. The staff was rude. They missed my pickup date by 3 days. They stole my custom hardware valued at $200. Gave me a low end tire. The bike was given to me with cosmetic problems and the manager doesn't read his email. To this date I never got an apology.

Sorry for the rant but buyers beware!

Man, you don't need an apology. You need a refund!

Do not modify the bike. Take photos of everything, and document what was removed from the bike. File a complaint with the Ontario Motor Vehicle Industry Council.

CWSS must be an Ontario motor vehicle dealer in order to sell bikes, and thus is regulated by a motor vehicle dealers act. They must have an ombudsman, which you must contact to file a complaint. Your treatment is ridiculous.

I would have taken a loss on the deposit and walked. Sounded fishy from the start.

Wait a second... you noticed all this stuff missing and still left with the bike? Oh, hells no! I wouldn't have left the shop until the stuff stripped off of it was at least in my hand. You bought the bike as it was on the showroom floor. That is an agreement. To strip down and replace parts with cheaper parts is fraud.

cycle world (east or west ) is not a dealership, and jim needs to be bent over. other shops are often repairing their screw up's thanks pugsley-you fudge packer

yea the few times ive been in there I have been turned off by the service, especially in the "showroom".

I was there once to checkout some gear and bikes, the staff was rude...I read so many bad stuff about these guys that I had to go and check them first hand for myself.

The guys at cycle world are rude and arrogant...avoid them if you can; they don't know how to talk to customers.

I didn't buy anything from them and don't plan to go there at all.

I'm a pretty mild mannered guy and I figured posting their habbits on this site would get their attention best since they don't care how much screaming you do to their face. It's a lesson to be learned and hopefully everyone here will heed the warning when dealing with them. I already bought what I needed to make the bike perfect. Anyone want to buy a cheap $10 set of turn signals, barely used??

Buddy, do what TorontoBoy said above. That would be the correct course of action. Here's his post again. It would strongly behoove you to follow the advice.

+1 contact OMVIC and possibly the Better Business Bureau.

WOW! Looked at a bike at GP on a Thursday afternoon, emailed Jeremey later that day of what I want the bike for (09 GSF 500, 10,000km) they listed at $4299, I said $4000 OTD. Agreed.

Friday afternoon paid for it.

Saturday morning called at 915am to see if they got it plated - Jeremey call me at 10, ALL DONE!

Saturday 11am pick-up, all fluids changed, polished plastics, plated and road it home.

Will be buying from them again - GO GP BIKES :D

I envy you! They had a raven for sale I missed by a few weeks. I tried their web site for a month but they never got one I wanted.
