Ok so I am kinda new to the MC world, but this kinda blew my mind a little. Didn't know this was a thing.
Can't imagine doing this in slow manoeuvres or curves with hills.

Auto-clutch makes that a whole lot easier and safer. I strongly dislike that it is forward for up and backwards for down. I would probably put a linkage in to reverse that.

There was a point in history when foot clutch and tank shifter was pretty normal.

There are a couple guys still racing dirt flat track in the US vintage class with hand shifters, vintage Indians.

I see them once in awhile on the sportster facebook group I'm in. Usually it's crowd that's into rigid rear ends and +6" springer front ends without brakes needs a way to make their bike stand out from the others.

... any bike manufactured after 1972 MUST have a foot shifter on the left side where first gear is down and the rest are up.
so unless the bike is a '72 or older you can't certify a bike with a suicide shift... unless it ALSO has a foot shifter on the left....

One down and the rest up is part of the requirement? GP shift can't be safetied? On the bike in the video, you could conceivably add a tab at the bottom to allow you to shift (poorly) with your foot, but it is all up from neutral.

Also I think in the video he mentions not having turn signals and has to use hand signals.....

Canada's federal regulations are basically "cut and paste" USA federal regulations.
... you do know that most of those "American Choppers" contraptions can't be legally registered.

A couple of states have a "home built" class and a couple of states don't require insurance, but they're mostly working under the same rules.

There's a school of cycle art out there that takes retro too far. Suicide shifters are best left in the past, and the bikes manufactured with them belong in a museum. Hand signals, well, they're for when your turn signals short out.
