Current least terrible wireless plan with data?

I was intending to switch to Fido once my wireless contract expired, but right about that time it seems like Fido stopped being a good deal. All I want is 500MB - 1GB of data ... ideally I'd bring over my iPhone 4, but so far it looks like WIND is significantly cheaper even if I have to buy a phone. I currently have a grandfathered 6GB/month plan with Rogers but it's costing me more than I'd like. Any suggestions?

I have grandfather plan with fido and i'm paying 55/month. My buddy in rogers with the same plan pays $50, Are you paying over 70/month?

Yup ... I only got it because of the company discount I had at the time

port your # to Wind call it a day.
Their service in the GTA is pretty decent.

Rogers will cancel those grandfathered plans soon (*they reserve the right to blah blah blah)

check out kijiji. Theres always usually someone selling their grandfather plan as long as you take their contract. Last time i checked (a month ago) there was a couple people selling their rogers grandfather plan for the price of their contract.
The monthly plan was 55/month
150 day time
unlimited after 7
6 gig
unlimited international sms

Your company anything to do with the government? If so you might qualify for a corporate rate....your company may have a corporate rate too even if not a provincial or federal government agency (you'll need to find your rep for rogers/bell whatever). Going rate is about $50 with all bells and whistles and 5-6GB data.

I have:
600 mins
Free evenings/weekends/incoming
voicemail
unlimited text/international text
free long distance
1GB data

$50 a month with virgin mobile

Is there any particulars I need to know to get this deal as well? My contract is up at the end of the month.

I'd give Wind a try & since its no contract, just leave if you don't like it. You just need a Wind compatible phone

PM NFQ he is knowledgeable with Wind

- Unlimited incoming/outgoing calls Canada wide
- Unlimited text/picture/video messages
- Call display/call waiting/conference call/voicemail
- 2 GB data

$60/month with Rogers.

I was with WIND for a little while but when I'm outdoors (in the GTA) and I can't receive calls, it's quite frustrating.
I'll pay an extra 10-20$ to have reliable reception.

Rogers is the best, they also own Fido. Some people may be paying around $10 more than they need to be. If you go in they can update your plan to reduce your monthly prices. They did that for me and my friend by $5 last time we went to bestbuy.

They keep increasing my bill. Buncha thieves

Rogers and Bell are on a permanent blacklist for me because of their service and politics.

So for cellular that basically leaves me with Koodo (Telus) and Wind (which won't have coverage in the countryside or in the basement of the skyscrapers). My criteria for wireless is data plan limit. I don't care about voice minutes I won't use.

For Internet/phone I use the Primus triple value costco bundle. Every so often Bell comes to the door and tries to get me to switch but are not willing to give me a written guarantee that I will be unlimited without tiers and exempt from this and that. A plan where you hit your limit faster is no deal as we use a lot of Netflix in this household. My Primus service has been very reliable though I am on one of their own dslams and not a Bell box which is nice.

If you currently have a corporate plan, I'd check with fido in their business/corporate department to see what they can do for you first. I have a grandfathered 6gb plan with rogers and they just reduced my bill from $70 to $55.

The best plans (outside of some corporate plans) are available to current customers through their retentions departments. If you go on redflagdeals, I think there's a thread for retentions plans that others are getting for each of the big companies. Advertised plans always blow in comparison

For reference, my plan through Fido retentions
250 daytime
unlim eve/we from 5
unlim incoming
unlim cdn ld
cd/iphone voicemail
6gb data
unlim text, etc.
$55 plus tax

I don't like retention plans. One shouldn't have to attempt to haggle like at a flea market. Also, don't you get stuck with yet another contract?

When my 3 years were up with Rogers both my partner and I ported right out. Rogers dinged us each with that last $30 kick. I never got around to arguing it, it helps cement the finality of how much they steal even when they're not entitled to it. So many Rogers loyalists around (there is a memo from an agency saying they're not actually entitled to charge that $30).

One scam Rogers ran on me at their corporate owned store is to tell me that I couldn't have the corporate plan from my work right off the bat so that the store ******* could get more commission. This caused me to lose a promo bonus and despite actually trying to get it back via email or visiting the store Rogers always had a runaround or reason why they couldn't give me what I was entitled to from day 1. It was too difficult. I consider Rogers a dishonest company with a poor network and I encourage ALL of you not to use Rogers or their subsidiary Fido.

Re: Retentions - It's no savings saving a few dollars for another contract if it's no signal in an area you want signal.

Rogers for me... how can people say the coverage sucks?? LTE pretty much everywhere... never hsd any call reception problems and I wouldnt say horrible customer service. yes they can be expensive for some( Me and my wife are on 6gb for $60 which includes unlimited everything else) but if you get in at the right time, you can get the right deal. Any carrier that has decent coverage will be pretty much the same price.
