Crazy suicide attempt - university student, streamed online

Please find me a quote where I said people with illness deserve to die.

Since the thread has now been Godwinned I shall respond.

Earlier you indirectly implied that certain people are unappreciative of their white privilege when contrasted to the blacks of Darkest Africa and that their failure to recognize this privilege has made them susceptible to the same afflictions that befall those who do not bestride the earth like giants.

Where did I say Africa?

I'm all for a good debate, but please stop misquoting me.

I have no sympathy. Kids think they have it so bad they need to kill themselves. Go watch a film on any third world country and see how good you have it.

A film on a third world country. The third world is the countries not aligned with the American or Soviet (second world) blocs.

Usually it is taken to mean Africa but included South America and the Indian subcontinent.

Safe to assume that you weren't referring to the hit movie Slumdog Millionaire or The Motorcycle Diaries.

I was cold and callous towards others with mental health issues like a previous poster. Until my friend jumped off a bridge 20 years ago to escape his demons, and my brother's best friend hung himself with rope flung over a door to escape his.

Depression and mental health issues can strike anyone at anytime, and through her employer my wife deals with train suicides and their loved ones anguish way too many times a year. You can never entirely harden to it, nor should you. Empathy is what makes us human.

Which third world destination were you referring to then?
Any, hence why I did not specify.

Even in the darkest of times there are a great many opportunities and programs available to us because of the country we live in that would not be available in many third world countries.

In this specific instance, the person could have used a lot of these services instead of attempting to kill themselves and potentially burn the dorm down. The university has a crisis hotline, there is a country wide suicide hotline as well, there are grief counselors at the school, and there are many other programs available to help people out who are in dire straights.

As was I until my wife tried to kill herself after the death of our first child.

If you don't have an opinion, or don't know enough about it, maybe suicide isn't a topic to throw flippant comments about.

http://www.metanoia.org/suicide/ Give it a read. If they had their faculties, then resources would be wonderful. The part you do not seem to want to understand, is that they are not making a choice here. Suicide is what happens when the illness takes over.

With all due respect, third world countries are the way they are because humans are really stupid, greedy and selfish.
If you live in a hell hole of a place, and you can barely survive, why the hell would you have 9 kids that you can't support?
Poor example.

Then you want to blame the kid for being born too? He didn't have a choice.
Blame his parents if anything.
Maybe he's been sneaking into the medicine cabinet and got some of those safe, government approved drugs.

But let's just blame WEED to make the conversation simple and sweep it all under the rug.

the whole "i'm going to post about this on 4chan, broadcast it to a bunch of disgusting sadists, tweet about it and update my facebook status" part isn't doing much in terms of garnering sympathy i would think

Of course it isn't, his parents aren't doing their damn job.
I'd be all over his business if he was my kid, then again, this is why i don't have kids, the world is too frikkin full of stupidity now.

kid doesn't necessarily want to die, just needs some attention, and some help.

In our society, attention seeking is shunned.

4chan is a breeding ground for trolls. So is GTAM...sort of. I guess its all relative.

As mentioned before, its hard to garner sympathy when they want to post their death in social media

I believe the dude had demons for sure....but still didn't really want to end it.
I think his method of choice showed that.
And I am not just an outside observer. After my sister died, I personally walked in on my mom slitting her wrists a number of times over the course of about 15 yrs......took razor blade away, called medical help etc.....she spent yrs in and out of mental health facilities. And when my kid brother came out of the closet, and got pummelled daily at school for it, he too attempted suicide. However, he chose pills. Both cries for help and reversible if they are saved in time.

Lol way to jump into the race thing head first.... for the record, you're the first (and only) one who brought it up ;-)

I'm guessing you're a disgruntled black guy or a white apologist of some kind.

This thread has already taken a positive turn, late and clueless as usual...
