Cracks in the tread of my tires

So I dropped in at the shop the other day and the mechanic noticed some cracks in the tread of my tires. He suggested replacing them which I assume I should do asap. I've added some links to the images below. I'm just wondering if anyone has experienced the same thing? What caused this and how dangerous is it to ride?

Age, probable winter storage in below freezing temperature, and a tire compound that wasn't selected for much other than low cost, caused this. Yes, the tire needs replacement.

tire could be dry, take your Thumb nail and press it into the tire if its hard and your nail doesn't go into the tire, then your tire is Dry.

I had that same effect on my off-road Toyota Pickup's 35" tires. Mine were "weather stress" and weren't a big issue.

For you it's a little different because you only have 2 tires and I assume you are on the street.
I had 4 tires and the truck was mostly for dirt/back roads at low speed.

If I were you I would change the tires. Check out Pete Superbikes for prices that are mostly unbeatable. Super fast shipping too.
It's not something you want to take a risk on.

Doesn't matter how old the tires are once they look like that. They're garbage.

Yes you need to replace them. Brain listed the likely causes. Are there cracks in the side walls at all? If they are it goes from a you should replace them to a replace them now before you ride more.

I appreciate all the comments guys. Anyone have any suggestions for a good set of tires for a 2008+ ninja 250r that won't kill my budget?

the tire is complete garbage. Get a new set. You will be never forgive yourself if you knew $300 could have potentially saved your life. Cost vs. risk.

Looks at the btoo3 rs if it is still available comes in a 130 rear
