I got tested at North York General on Wednesday, had result on Friday. No symptoms, just got tested for the sake of being tested.

Walked in, no appointment, test was done quickly. Took about an hour from start to finish. 55 minutes of that was going through the intake process. Intake is same as any other medical concern, they could really do well to streamline that for people seeking Covid tests.

Is it painful?
Or just uncomfortable?

From people I have talked to, for those that got tested while not having many covid symptoms it was just uncomfortable. For those that got tested while they were feeling sick and inflamed, it felt like they were being stabbed in the brain with a hot poker. That makes sense to me, if your sinuses are already angry poking them can't be fun.

Definitely uncomfortable, but not the worst thing. Who doesn't like a four inch q-tip going up their nose.

Because if you test the sinus or throat you are looking for it oozing up out of your lungs
and then you are taking that tiny sample and trying to replicate or amplify some part of it enough to say hey ya, sure looks like the right stuff!
if you test the blood you see everything that is floating around inside your whole body :|

You're completely missing the point. The blood test does not show current infection...only the swab test does.

The blood test is all about antibodies which happens after you've been infected and recovered.

Getting a blood test even when you have every single Covid19 symptom does absolutely nothing since you're currently infected, not previously infected and recovered and therefore have antibodies a blood test can detect.

I can confirm that a 12" camera is equally uncomfortable, but also not the worst thing in the world. Just wish I could have seen the screen while it was down there.

Wife got tested in Orangeville came back negative swab was not deep at all and the person giving the test even said don't worry I don't go too deep. Only reason we went there was drive through seems stupid to go into a building to get it if you don't have it already. Possibly a false negative but she is feeling fine now after losing taste and smell filled by extreme fatigue.

When I had my test done...I thought it went up all the way to my brain. They just kept going and going. I've read that one of the issues for a lot of negatives is the testers aren't actually doing it properly.

Source? Because I think you just made that up by reading between the lines of news reports, nobody has come out to say blood testing can not show a current infection, if they have post up the link for that. Do you have any idea how many tests or ways to look at coronavirus are being developed right now world wide or what they do or do not show? No you do not, nobody does! There is no THE blood test or THE swab test. I've seen people on television being sinus tested and then the next person was throat swab tested, the results likely went to completely different labs for processing and they were likely subjected to completely different test procedures. Again I return to the thing I said that touched you off in the first place :/ there is no treatment, if we know you have or had it through testing, that buys us little other then another piece of the puzzle until there is some action that can be taken that we are not already doing.

Are they planning on opening? I wish we could all have her as supreme leader. She seems smart, caring and gets things done. If they open borders, I suspect she will have rock solid quarantine in place (probably govt organized hotel with security as in oz).

I just got an email from my brother in Auckland and correcting that the one case is actually a 50 YO woman recovering at home. No new cases in 9 days. Malls are open and crowded. Tourism is encouraged so get out and around spending money.

There is some discussion about incoming travelers from Australia being part of a free-to-travel pact but Au still is getting 15 newbies a day. Only a fool thinks people can scrap the safety gear.

Had a long chat with Mrs. Nobbie about when would we trust eating out if restaurants opened. Large social distances are not practical for rent reasons and all it takes is one self centred typhoid Mary to ruin your life.

Come on dude, Google is your friend.

It's helpful if you do this step before posting online - take the 30-60 seconds to substantiate your claims before posting wrong info online and claiming it as factual.

Health Canada, or the CDC or FDA websites are your friend. No, I'm not just pulling random stuff from the media's websites and taking it as fact.

I'll help you along here since Googling things is apparently hard.

Important information to understand about results from serological testing

• Serological testing detects the presence of antibodies; it does not detect the presence of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Serological testing is not intended for use in diagnosis of infection.

That, and as I've said before, I live with someone in the healthcare field who spends 8-10 hours a day working on this very topic right now.
