COVID-19 potential restrictions on riding?

I can't see them restricting riding. Your on your bike outside, you are not near anyone. If you stop at Tim's for coffee you just park one bike per spot.
On CP24 today they showed kids and parents at a playground, all of them really close together. Somebody sent the video to CP24. I don't understand
parents doing that?? Take your kid to play in the park, but keep a distance from others.

That's the problem. Too much dumb, not enough common sense. As long as people keep mingling, Govt will keep chopping away at allowed activities. Given the very high level of dumb and entitlement, I wouldnt be surprised if we end up for at least a short period of "stay on your own property".
They should just get to it sooner rather than later.
This constant “we are not there yet” is what is Confusing people and allowing them to go do certain activities but not others. Go to a park full of people but not a movie theatre.
This will also provide a fair playing field for those that are at work but not others. Except for the really essential services. And I mean really essential.
Having this gray area is making this worse and more likely to spread.
When do they expect to enforce the full lockdown. When it’s too late?

Exactly. The exceptions are enough to keep the virus spreading at a manageable rate. Any random activity increases the rate further.
I think the far bigger short-term (eight weeks?) issue is the lack of health care resources. We try not to crash but sometimes it happens. What was survivable last summer may get you a toe tag soon as the system doesnt have the capacity to fix you and nurse you back to health. If you are going to tie up an ICU bed for weeks and maybe not make it, do they save you in the ER? Not a fun question and not an easy answer.
Spain and italy have banned bicycle riding. I have heard that the primary reason was lack of health care availabiluty and statistically higher chance of them needing healthcare.
I’m sure it would be banned. In Italy you need to fill a form as to where and why you’re going....and staying within XX km of your home.

as above, taking kids to the playground where equipment is not cleaned. Kids playing soccer together. It needs to stop. Parents are going to have to get creative and learn to amuse thier kids AT HOME.
My concern if we went to a 'house' lock down my dog would be KooKoo in a day and drive us bonkers. But we would figure it out.

Agreed with @crankcall ... the more people resist these small ‘requests’ to stay away from one another the tighter and more direct the ‘requests’ will be.

Too many people are focused on MY rights, MY life, and MY freedom....these things are very easily taken away if you don’t act toward the greater goal.

At least part of the reason that Italy has such a big problem now has been the number of people who flout the recommendations, which then become rules, which then become enforced by the military. Public transit still working, same dog gets walked by multiple people constantly, go grocery shopping for one banana at a time, etc. It morphs into "you can't leave your property" because people don't follow the spirit of the recommendations.
The longer some people flout the recommendations, the longer we all have to deal with them and the more stringent they will get.
One thing it's becoming apparent that we need, is a mandatory shutdown of all manufacturing and retail that isn't directly involved with or supporting the food industry or health care.
I'm planning to go for a ride on Tuesday ... nowhere to go that's open, oh well. I know it's not a problem for myself or others.
A health care system that is at capacity (not yet, but it will be, soon) is good reason to be extra careful.

A percentage of the population are treating this "off work" as some sort of vacation. I can go for a bike ride and pee behind a tree, some women not so much.
Norfolk county (port dover) has imposed a limit of groups of 10. 5K fines. Halton Conservation areas are locking down because you cant pass on many trails 8ft apart.
Look at this gift of 'time' and play some board games , play charades with the kids, read a book, watch some classic films , watch that porn clip you've been avoiding.

I brought my utility trailer home and attempting to clean out the basement.
The kids want me to finish the basement so bad that they are planning a fundraiser in the summer to raise some money.
When I sold my old bike last week, they told me the money is going towards the finishing of the basement as well.
My business is classified as an essential service, so if I’m trying to find a silver lining in all this, at least if there’s a complete lockdown I can still ride to/from work.....
If not on a trip to the US (and that's not going to happen anytime soon) my bike lives at the cottage. My rides there are usually 3 - 4 hours long with only a gas stop. So, that's what I intend to do when riding season opens up in 4 - 6 weeks down the road. As noted in other posts I'm also aware that if the health system is overwhelmed it would be very bad timing to have an accident that required anything other than setting a broken bone so there is an incentive to ride conservatively.
Lotto provided notes for their team members saying bicycle rides were required for their employment. While sort of true, that's the crap that gets full bans implemented with no exceptions.
Sadly, as we all know, sometimes the bike is just a victim. My neighbour was waiting in her suv at a light on friday night when someone ran the red, crashed into one car in the intersection and then crashed into her and wrote off her vehicle too. If she was on a bike, it would have been very bad.
If deaths continue to rise throughout Canada a complete and total lockdown on non-essential public activities seems inevitable.
Already in the United States, 100 million people are currently under stay-at-home orders. I would not be surprised if we follow suit here in Ontario this week
As far as going out for a ride, I feel rather conflicted at this point. In light of what is going on, riding feels like a selfish indulgence.

My silver lining was a LOT of time with the wife and kids. I actually looked for things to do! Took a drive to the cottage just to see no other trees fell down.My business is classified as an essential service, so if I’m trying to find a silver lining in all this, at least if there’s a complete lockdown I can still ride to/from work.....
