Counter clockwise racing circuit more deadly?

Could be a coincidence, but are the fatal crashes at this Brazil race track due to the fact that it is counter clockwise?

I figure it's a coincidence
MotoGP race on left hand circuits regularly
doesn't seem any less safe

in that vid, the lack of an air fence after the runoff seems to be the issue
should not be anywhere to run off into a steel barrier

I don't think the direction matters. I'm with JF, the lack of room and/or a squishy barrier was the problem here.

? It's all about as exciting as watching a snowmobile race anyway.

"It is believed that Barbosa's bike suffered a brake failure which caused it to smashed it into a nearby metal barrier." Pretty sure that the direction of the track is a relatively unimportant factor.
