The #s are messed anyway I know multiple people who are fairly certain they have it but aren't going to bother getting a test as the provincial gov has made it too much of a pain to bother with unless you need it for some reason.

that's fine, i know 2 people who believed they had symptoms as well. They barricaded themselves inside for 2 weeks, that plan works for me.

So going forward financially.............has anyone run a spread sheet on the tab so far? City, province and federal packages?

At some point do they have to cull the herd of businesses that were going to die anyway? When?

Then there are the expectations of income. The word "Deflation" scares the investment community.

Let's say a small business clears $250,000 for the owner pre-Covid. Now due to extra cleaning and cautions the owner is only making $175,000. Does he up his rate to regain the profit or learn to live on the lower amount?

Wait. He has a mortgage that depends on the $250,000. Something has got to give. The mortgage holder can't drop the principal because he's working a percentage angle on a bond.

Is there any expectation that Canada or Ontario will ever be debt free?

Anyone have any numbers on how many doses we're getting in March?
I thought I saw 600,000 somewhere, but I can no longer find it.

With that few, distribution is going to be a shhhshow.

Idea might be to get as many people working for the government as possible,
tie us up in perpetual debt,
then spread the fear that the opposition will halt the gravy train.

Douggie and CE were throwing around 1.2 or 1.3 million doses. JT said those numbers were a fabrication. I dont know which camp to believe.

I never saw any clarification as to whether they were referring to a dose as enough for one person or whether that was per needle and each person requires two.

This will never happen till the reset . When you lose your property rights . Your assets will be used to pay the debt .

I imagine that they have a plan where initially it will be front line workers and the most vulnerable first. That's what I would do. Get the medical personal done along with nursing home residents. Then go from there.

I haven't seen or heard of a plan. Maybe it's a national security risk to let the public know it. ;)
They're too busy critiquing the Provinces on what they're doing, instead of working on their own problems.

Except, in a world where all currency is "fiat currency" - that's not how it will go down. "Fiat currency" can be "printed" - there's no upper limit on how much there is, although that's not to say that "printing" money without bound does not have financial consequences.

What is practically a certainty is "quantitative easing" to an extent that we have never seen before. In simple terms, "printing money". More practically ... The government pays for things (such as dealing with the consequences of the pandemic) and then basically absolves the debt that this created. This injects more money into the economy. Essentially, this is inflationary - although right now, that inflationary effect is merely offsetting what would otherwise be a catastrophic deflationary collapse. Inflation makes the real value of currency less, which also makes the real value of debts less.

What's it mean? If you own something that's paid for (non-currency assets), you still own it, that's not an issue. If you have money in the bank (in the form of cash), it will be worth less. If you have a loan, that will also be worth less.

This is not specific to Canada, it's worldwide. There is going to be "quantitative easing" in every currency.

How do you protect yourself? Own things. Don't sit on cash.

But, don't panic and spend yourself into oblivion. This isn't something that will devalue the currency to a fraction of its current real value overnight. It'll happen over years, if not decades.

We're in the same boat, government doesn't seem to have a plan.

Agree, there seems to be no rhyme or reason to what, who, how and when things get locked down. Feels like the govt is just throwing darts at a board while blind folded and hoping for a bullseye.

A search of the literature will turn up papers in medical journals that properly analyse the factors involved in virus transmission. Eating (can't wear a mask) at restaurants indoors most certainly is a risk factor. Bars (loud, crowded, leads to people yelling, plus alcohol, poor ventilation) were even worse. Churches (crowded, people singing, indoors, poor ventilation) have been the source of a number of documented superspreader events. The USA isn't the best source for this, because their contact tracing stinks.

Easier reading than a medical journal, but not wrong ...

Re 1) If you have a hole in the boat and it's letting 10% of the water in wouldn't you want to plug it?

Re 2) Market share may be improving for drive thru's but are overall sales up for the drive thru's?

No question the regular restaurants are suffering more without the head office financial support but I don't think anyone's having fun.

I don't know if pizza joints are doing better than most, as a lot of pizza was take out to start.

I think what they're trying to say is that there are lots of holes in the boat,
and the government is plugging the ones that exhaust the engine,
rather than the ones that allow water in.

Contact tracing is a joke here in Ontario...

Friend's daughter works at a restaurant in Hamilton. Many of the employees also attended that spin class place that had a big outbreak. The restaurant owner contacted Public Health Ontario because multiple employees were exposed, they told him there is nothing he needs to do other than tell them to stay home (even though they had been working since exposed). Multiple got sick, PHO still said nothing to do as they are now home....

How is that contact tracing? Obviously they were infected and working, serving people! Close these gaps and maybe a full lock down would not have been required.

They put a bigger red dot on the map of places to stay away from.

Finally the media and people are realizing the liberals action or lack of on covid, the lets throw money at it is starting to come to light, and the short falls are now apparent. They have no clue when they are getting the vaccine or even a plan to roll it out. More Canadians are going to die for the lack of liberal knowledge and listening to the science.

Really when you see a country that pushed for mask and the numbers are still sky rocketing. i would start to question the science. I'm not an anti masker by no means.
