Baby Boomer "The generation is most often defined as individuals born between 1946 and 1964, during the post–World War II baby boom." and 1964 is a bit of a stretch because nobody that came back from WWII took 18 years to make a baby
Over time the begin-end of generations has drifted. In the 90s, Baby Boomers (post war cohort) were said to be born 1946-1955. Gen X used to be 1956 to 1975. Somewhere along the way a smaller cohort (hippie years) called late boomers (b56-64) was stuffed in between Boomers and X, and eventually absorbed into the Boomer cohort.
While it's easiest to group generations by year of birth (age), in reality they are a demographic cohort based on consumer market size and consumer behaviours. Marketeers group cohorts of people born at different time brackets based on differences in a handful of categories. These are typically media consumption (what do they watch), shaping events (war, pandemic, financial boom/bust, technology adoption: cars, TV, smartphones), banking habits and financial horizon (where are they now - young adult that needs a credit card, 30 something looking for mortgages, 50 something looking for equity financing & retirement investing, 70 retirement).
Some good deals out there for those with cash. RCGS Resolute just sold for $600K. That is an ice-hardened 410' cruise ship for less than many of the boats on GTA lakes.
Hemingways deserves to get shut down for being a one business public health crisis. What a bunch of knobs. First, they drum up media about their patio space (with a full roof and windows which to me makes it just as bad as indoor space just using a loophole) then they open at midnight to allow a huge crowd of wankers in to celebrate the end of oppression by the man.
And this is pretty much it for sports. Tennis tried a tournament and had an outbreak, now it's baseballs turn. Outbreaks seem inevitable when you are in close proximity to a lot of people. Has anyone seen what leagues are planning to do? Test everyone and only isolate those that come back positive? Isolate entire teams for weeks? How does that work for determining ranking when teams may be down a bunch of players (or games)?
Hospital administrators and health experts warned desperately Wednesday that parts of the U.S. are on the verge of becoming overwhelmed by a resurgence of the coronavirus, lamenting that politicians and a tired-of-being-cooped-up public are letting a disaster unfold.
What's been happening with truck drivers moving supplies across the border? Perpetual state of isolation from everybody? That would suck. I know some pilots still flying international flights. They are not isolating much when they come home.
As long as the truck driver is in their own truck, they're not at risk and don't present risk to others, but at some point, they need to interact with people on either side of the border. Certainly the risk is non-zero, and I'd say it's pretty likely that some coronavirus has leaked across the border that way.
The good thing is that the states immediately adjacent to us (NY, MI) seem to be through the worst of it.
A discussion about the feasibility of a baseball season. I didn't realize they were going to travel to play. Hopefully JT won't let them cross the border, I can't believe how dumb their plan is. It is really hard to come up with a worse plan.
We went from 0 cases to 5 in the last 3 days to 10 today. Most traced back to a nail salon. From there 3 customers were infected and they may have transmitted it on at their worksplaces. Worrying how infectious this is.

The multi-day to multi-week incubation period combined with mild non-descript symptoms is a real bugger. By the time you identify a single case, it seems like ~5 to 10 can be expected (assuming everybody was behaving, if they were being knobs who knows how big the initial pool will be).
On a happy note, I called the boatyard in NY that's storing my boat to arrange summer storage on land. I told them there was no way I can get there due to the border closing. He says "No problem. 'I really like Canadians, we're going to let you keep it here till next April for free. And don't worry about the winter storage for last year - I haven't cashed your cheque and I won't." There are plenty of decent Americans.
Can't blame Freshco. First night of the sales flyer, a lot of people's payday so they go shopping, and they are effectively closed. I'm surprised it lasted this long, too.
