In retrospect (and full disclosure I was a "Beaver" leader. "We don't don't have enough leaders tonight for your son to sign up. Any thoughts of volunteering as a Beaver ledaer?") when you think about it, as far as a place for a pedo to prey on kids, the whole Scout thing was pretty much made to order. Probably made being alone at with young boys even easier than if you were a priest.

I was a cub and then Scout leader when my son was involved, I stepped back when he became a venturer then Rover as I felt it was better for him to grow with out me being there . BUT I had a kid in the program. Meet people with no kids in the program, where we dress kids up like little soldiers ( BadenPowell) and have lots of sleep over camps ect . It’s a hot bed for pervs .
And it’s very reasonably priced so moms that are struggling can manage enrollment and little Stuey gets a father figure . It’s made for pedos.
Sure they vet leaders , but if the guy on top of the totem pole is a pervert , guess who he likes to be complicit with ?
