goodMake no mistake, if you have an undertail kit, the opp are targeting you as you've just given them cause to pull you over. When bikes run from the popo, most cops aren't able to register the plate number as they can't see it. I watched as hundreds (if not thousands) of motorcycles did the bend at Pizza Dee's on Wasaga Beach Motorcycle Rally 2016 day. OPP set up in empty parking lot there. They pointed at every sportbike with an undertail kit to pull over. They let sportbikes with stock mudflaps go by. Not one cruiser was stopped. I've tested this out myself by going by them on my supermoto with zip ties holding my plate on as it flapped in the wind. They're clearly being told to target SS aftermarket license plate holders... the catalyst being runners / and now hwy stunters. The objective being identifying you. Strangely, the hwy stunting / wheelie thing is showing up to the GTA rather late... as it's been done to death and not really a thing anymore.

that's called paying attention to & focusing on folks who are asking for it, warts & all, including ending up hassling a lot of folks who just happen to ride similar styled bikes

i doubt anyone else cares, other than the folks directly affected, about what cops are doing here with giving a certain basic fundamentally important issue, 'show your plates' that applies to all, some special attention
if it matters so much to someone playing with rear plates/fenders that you then end up in a cop chit chat, too bad
even if ending up there & totally legit, that's life
lotsa folks wanna have their cake & eat it, encouraged by noise here from some who promote going there with one sided mostly irrelevant babble, that then also encourages cop encounters in the real world, that then ends up in endless whining points & threads here
ya sure, cop this cop that is the issue here and going there is the way to go, give (as in a HUGE MAJORITY of) everyone else a break, like anyone else even cares about it
wanna stand out one way or another with cops? then by all means, go there & good luck including tuning into folks who promote/encourage going there, with their lost cause, if not in space arguments
no one forces anyone to get a certain type bike, don't like what comes with it? heh, welcome to the real world & it's mostly your problem with practically zero support from others period
Could not as a former officer disagree more, with many of the statements.
IF your riding ANY style bike, you shouldn't be subjected to a traffic stop unless you have done something illegal, OR your bike has improper equipment as per the HTA. There will be times when an officer stops a vehicle for what they believe to be an infraction, but upon closer inspection feels it may not warrant a violation. They may, choose to issue a formal warning, (which is entered in the computer system. They may also choose just to discuss the issue with the operator and if they feel the issue will be resolved, leave it at that.
But to simply decide that ALL sport bikes are "guilty bey association" is wrong headed and potentially dangerous route to be followed.
So it isn't a "tough luck you choose to buy a sport bike or an SS, you need to suck it up getting stopped constantly" issue. It is an issue of penalizing those who ARE committing the offences.
I do agree the 401 stunting crowd is drawing unnecessary attention to the riding community, and just as with the person who launched the beer can at Roger's Center last night they should be pointed out by those who are around them and know who they are. I am sure if a few got turned in and faced charges it would "lower" the intensity of the spot light.

I'm pretty sure, by the sounds of it now you've got 2 tickets for the same thing from the same officer he'll be in court ready to face off with you. Let us know how you get on.I would have understood this happening as a result of another moving violation where we got pulled over for something then he noticed the plates on top of that.
We were literally parked for about 5 minutes walking around deciding where to eat. The PC saw our bikes, stopped and backed up to the nearest free parking spot, got out of his car to go to our bikes and inspect them. We watched this happen thinking nothing of it and sat down to eat.
He literally sat there and waited for us.
Where I see this going with insurance rates increasing and the scrutiny from police etc.
People, especially younger people are not going to bother getting insurance or license plates.
More and more you will see non registered bikes on the street running from the police.
Why bother spending money on getting plated and insured when you can just ride and say fxuk the police.
If I was a teenager right now, it would most likely be my reality. Fortunately I don't have to resort to that now to enjoy my bike.

Please clarify. Were you ticketed for the same thing you were warned about and didn't fix, or was it a completely different infraction?
I replaced my girls under tail with another one that's right at the back of the bike but there is no way I'm putting a stock one on. I'm not changing mine at all, this is the first time a cop had a problem with it.

So the type1 eliminator that was on my GF's bike is not legal, the PC said so and I understand that.
I replaced it with the Type 2.
Mine is home made and very similar to the type 1 but mounts further towards the back of the bike.
The PC said that mine was "marginal", meaning it's borderline illegal. So I flipped it around to be even closer to the back and facing more upwards towards any cameras.
I doubt the PC recognized me as all my gear was different and I was leaving the gym with my son, my bike is completely stock. Maybe he did but did not in any way hint that he did and I barely interacted with him.
I will absolutely post what happens at court but it will be some time from now.
