I saw this on Facebook but didn't realize that Yamaha had commissioned the project.

Stock R3 bodywork is a jigsaw puzzle with a bazillion little pieces. This has got to be more crash friendly and maintenance friendly.

Maybe not, but what a good starting point.
Compared to a lot of the home built abominations out there, at least this one looks actually rideable.
