Contour bankruptcy sale, Roam2 for under $120 shipped!

Thanks. I was looking for a cheap camera.
It's a good enough camera. Set the exposure to one darker of a level than what looks perfect, then tune the brightness in post op (the camera usually makes everything too bright, then you loose detail when you darken it down post op), and stick on a micromuff "skinny" to fix a lot of the wind pop/noise.

You can charge and record at the same time (works sweet), was using 32gb microSD card, never ever locked up or lost video, even during my big crash (camera still works but snapped USB jack because charge cable was plugged in during crash). You can rotate the lens (like the drift), has a laser level so you know you got it perfectly level.

You can convert it to use standard gopro mounts by using the $10 gopro tripod adapter: http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/product/go-pro-gopro-tripod-mount-tripod-mount/10158510.aspx

And a 1/2" long x 1/4" stainless steel bolt (just cut the head off) to join the contour to the gopro tripod adapter, done. Cut off the farthest "ear" away from the nut side (on the gopro tripod adapter) and it'll fit flawless into ANY gopro mount. Use a phillips screw driver to crank the gopro mount tight (when you mount it to other gopro adapters), don't just use your fingers.

Great!! Been wanting a cam for a while. In another forum a vebdir is selling go pro black adventure or surf edition for 329usd. Even though its cheaper than anywhere I still think it's expensive. I just need something that'll do stuff

Contour ( the brand itself) is going bankrupt??? Thought the brand was doing good for itself..

Just ended up buying contour+2 from that website for 250 with tax. Hope it arrives soon

me too.. i would have gotten the roam and saved $100 but i wanted to be able to use my phone as a viewer.

Just ordered one, going to use it as a car dash cam, the driving around here seems to be getting worse by the day.

It's not the BEST dashcam because it doesn't support auto recording when you start the vehicle, and doesn't have auto SD card overwriting (the Drift HD Ghost has both), but should be sufficient if you remember to click it on when you start the car, and format the card when it gets full (you can format it right from the camera, no need to connect a PC or take the SD card out to do it ;) ).

And you might want two cameras, one facing out the rear (on the back dash), and one out the front. The front cam you might be able to mount to the headrest so it's pointing out the front, from just over your right shoulder. Gets a sweet view of your speedo/tach as well as out the window (have to test, some cameras don't like this so they'll either focus out the window and can't see anything inside, or vice versa).

Cool, thanks for the info, I like the headrest idea. I have a couple 32gb micro sd cards and will run it at 720p so hopefully wont have to worry about formatting too often.

Sounds good. First time you fill it up take it inside, download all the clips from it, dump it in a VLC player playlist and see what the total runtime is, then you'll have an idea if you drive a total of 2 hours each day to/from work, approx how many days you can get before you need to format it :)

What I did for the headrest mount was get a piece of plastic bar about 2ft long (not sure if you can get it at CT or HD, I got it from my metal supply place, Metal Supermarkets, was 1" wide and 1/4" thick, 2ft long). I pulled the headrest out, used the "legs" to mark holes on the plastic towards one end of it, drilled it out. I then put the legs of the headrest through it, then reinstalled back on seat, voila, super nice solid mount with no modifications to the vehicle. I then drilled a 1/4" hole through the part of plastic that was now sticking over the right edge of the seat and used a GoPro tripod adapter (linked above) and a 1/2" long 1/4" bolt and just bolted the tripod adapter to the plastic bar. Worked perfect, could use my Drift, Contour (after converting it as explained above) and of course GoPro.

Can you post some pics?

I don't have it in my current car, not sure if I ever took actual pics of the setup before! lol. Here a vid showing the camera view (on the first GoPro ever invented).

Just bought one, $129 with tax and Free shipping. Best deal on the internet!!

Picture quality I searched on Youtube definitely not as good as the GoPro series and not the greatest in low lights but for the cost and what it can do is definitely well worth it.

For in car, it's better to stick with those dashcams. They have more options like motion detection recording when the car is off. I have this and it's currently pointed at my motorcycle. It's not a deterrent for theft, but at least I'll catch them in the act and display their faces for all of the world to see!
