Condo Retards

Im not saying a chain wont help deter, but you can't come on the forum and start calling people that live in condos retards when their bikes get stolen... And you can't make it seem that having a chain will stop theft. Most of us in condos also have nowhere to chain it to so having a chain around it is useless.

I agree that it's organized crime. My guess is they have an in at the MTO. They are likely jotting down plate numbers while you're at your local Timmies. They give the plate numbers to the "in." The "in" gives them the address. If it's a condo, it's more likely a go. I find it hard to believe that Theft Insurance, while absolutely necessary is the "only" answer.

It'll be interesting to see all the "My Bike Was Just Stolen..." threads coming, and ask how many of them had the chain mentioned in the OP. Grinding through a chain that thick and hardened is going to cause a lot of noise. Add the acoustics of an underground, and it's a lot of noise! Thieves may have a lot of tricks, but a "silent grinder" you won't find anywhere.

Question.....

Do you work for the chain manufacturer?

So, those of you who think that the noise of an angle grinder on a chain is going to make a difference - your bike could be chained to the 50 yard line in the middle of the super bowl, and nobody's going to say a damn thing.

Another arbitrary statement. I revved my Yoshi equipped 1200cc to 11,000rpm in the middle of the night several times. Asked the night guards (pretty good guys, patrolling the entire building every hour, including the garage and fire escape stairs/exits, and keeping a close eye at security cameras in the mean time) if they heard, saw or smelled anything unusual. Care to guess what the answer was?

Too bad I don't live in that building any more. I'd be delighted to dare you to put your money where your mouth is.

I have no financial interest in Bluestreak. The company was mentioned as a source in this GTAM thread:

http://www.gtamotorcycle.com/vbforu...-Motorcycle-Anchor-Like-No-Other-Design/page2

This guy seems to know chains, and where to get one that's effective. He writes about a demonstration on how hard they are to break, grind, burn (plasma torch). My only interest is to see GTA condo riders smarten up, and chain up. If that takes a little coaxing by referring to them in a certain manner, then so be-it. It's not meant as literal as I've written, just to bring attention to the up and coming summer theft season. Get ahead of it, and don't be a victim!

I recommend anyone who cares, to watch the videos of bikes being stolen in post # 60. Somehow seeing it happen hits home, angers, and motivates.

OK... NOTHING short of buying a clocking device will prevent your bike from being stolen.

Chain: You can buy a diamond chain covered in titanium and it still won't help you... Do you know how long it takes to freeze a lock, or pick it or BUMP IT. 30 secs top

GPS tracking device: useless. Cellphone Jammer... GPS Jammer

Rottweiler attached to your bike: A package of wieners will take care of that. Watch Mythbusters.

Stop worrying about everything and just go out and ride....

PS: buying a $300 chain is retarded!!!

Thanks for the typo notice.

It appears to be laughably simple.

Then you see the posts of tears on here, and all the condolences. Same thing every year.

I'm sorry to say, you are a "condo retard." I do not say that to insult, but to teach.

Same thing every year? you only been here for less than a month! maybe permabanned in previous life?

The prince of thirteen posts has made his sales pitch. Let's us all run out and buy $300 chains. They probably cure cancer too.

Does the OP think that if everyone used his locks bike theft would drop to zero? Hah

While thieves are less likely to steal old bikes it is criminal as well that we can't ride decent ones because they might get stolen. Let's all drive wrecks, live in dumps and dress like beggers so no one is tempted to rob us.

I guess that's why some motorcycle theives were just caught due to a gps tracker about 30 days ago.

Yes, mainly GTA
Condos but don't be quick to say scarbrough!! If you read the posts here you will see it's condos on yonge st corridor (sheppard) and Cityplace/lakeshore .

It can and has happened during the day.
Sometimes more than two guys and yes, it's a joke that so called "security" is being paid for at these places. Too bad.

happens day, night, not just scarborough, plenty in mississauga area, and even a few posts from north of the city.

it happens, and those with chains are stolen just as often as those without. the only "retards" are the ones who refuse to put theft insurance on. thats the only thing that will really help them in the end.

yea, but that tracker wasnt hidden on a bike. it was hidden on a car. much easier to hide something like that on a car. the bikes were there by coincidence.

GPS tracker could be useful but I wouldn't depend on it. I'd still get theft coverage but if something happens you might get lucky and be able to track it assuming they don't notice it's there. It wouldn't dissuade anyone from stealing it though unless you put a sticker or something saying it's there but then they'd just find it and rip it off or block it. You can get blockers for like $20 online.

Speaking of cell and GPS jammers. Great gadgets to mess with cagers yapping while driving and to test the (d)effectiveness of your friends' GPS tracker.

Oh boy...yet another condo debate post thingy...

Well here goes my argument...i may be a retard who lives in a condo..my apologies on my choice of lifestyle...however, I'm fairly sure the condo board would have a major issue if I hired someone (Cuz ain't no way I'm doing it) to drill into the concrete car park with some sort of metal thing-a-ma-bobber, just so I had somewhere to chain my bike to. Trust me, if I could, I would, but as far as I've last heard, this isn't allowed...

I guess I'll just have to stand in the car park next to my baby with a very large bat at all times...but since I have a few jobs, I'll have to settle for being called a 'tard instead =P

Maybe if you guys rode your bikes instead of leaving them parked this wouldn't be a problem.
WOOAAAHHH FLAME ON!

here's an idea, I'll look after them for you, just leave me the keys :D

Condo Retards

Sorry in advance if this post offends anyone, but it appears the condo theft "season" has begun.

My suggestion is that the forum refer to anyone who has his/her bike stolen as a "retard" if he/she doesn't at least buy a chain like this from Bluestreak (or equivalent):

http://www.bluestreakracing.ca/en/b...orcycle_lock_chains/oxford_monster_chain.html

Close up of lock:

http://www.gtamotorcycle.com/vbforu...-Motorcycle-Anchor-Like-No-Other-Design/page2

$300 to save you having to be rideless, dealing with cops, insurance, and adding to the laughter of thieves that are having their way with the GTA.

If you live in a condo, and "don't" buy one of these chains and wrap it around a mother of a pole - you are a Condo Retard. Simple as that!

This post is not meant to insult, but motivate your lazy ***** into buying a small investment that will pay off huge dividends.

I'm still shocked people don't get their helmets stolen all the time. It stuns me the number of people who leave their lids on their bike for the entire day. Who knows if somebody knocked it off?
