Chromebook anyone?

Basement TV is a Vizio 1080p backlit LCD ~2010. Won't die. Looks ok. Obviously eclipsed by newer TV's. I am too cheap to throw out a working TV to replace with another one.

That's the reason I hadn't upgraded to a 4K TV eariler honestly - I was waiting for the plasma to die. It never did. Eventually sold it for $75. I should have kept it for the garage...but anyways....there's a $10 ~25" Value Village special in there now lol.

As for plug awkwardness, I am surprised more TV's don't follow a model similar to the Frame TV's. One small umbilical cord between interface box and TV. The Frame expects you to put the interface box remote from the TV, but it wouldn't be hard to include clips/magnets to allow you to attach it to the back of the TV and still easily pull it out if you needed to change something.

The placement of the input/outputs on the new 86" is frankly stupid. They're about 18-20" in from the side, meaning that once the TV is mounted on the wall using a regular hanging bracket (I don't think there's any articulated arms that are able to handle the size and weight of an 86", and I wanted it as tight to the wall as was possible anyways), you can't even get your hand, much less your arm behind it anymore to plug anything in.

So, you need to unlatch the TV from the hanger and lift it off in order to accomplish the task...all while trying to balance the entire TV on whatever you sit it on while you're doing it, in a state of terror that the thing is going to get out of control (it weighs 100#) and crash to the floor. And then blindly trying to latch the TV back onto the hanger again while not being able to see **** of the hangar either. I have to have a third person standing at the side checking that it's latched before letting it carry the weight again and am still insanely paranoid every time I've had it down. I just finished paying for the damn thing a few months ago lol.

First world problems, I know.... lol

51" LG Plasma in our basement as well and it just won't die. Added a Firestick to it to make it smart and it's now a kids TV. The 2yr old sits so close to it she's going to start getting a tan from it soon from the amount of heat it emits.
The crappy Samsung 70" LED is in the garage so that dad's old eyes can watch MotoGP on a big screen.
