Choose an answer randomly

I'm basically saying the same thing you are. Answering the question by picking one of the 4 answers cannot be done, both 50% and 25% contradict each other. You're wrong as soon as you pick an answer.

Sorry, it IS a trick question.

How can one randomly choose? One negates the other.

I knew 4 years of UBC philosophy courses was going to pay off! (A tip for ALL philosophy students: Practice this line: "Would you like fries with your meal sir/madame?).

Pfff skip the question. At the end of the test, exclude A and D and flip a coin between B and C. DONE #YOLO #PATT

If the answer is (b) or (c) it's 25%. If the answer's (a) or (d) it's 50%. So the answer is dependent on the probability of the answer, being 1/3.

So, I figured:
1/3 x 2/4 = 2/12
1/3 x 1/4 = 1/12
1/3 x 1/4 = 1/12
= 1/3 or 1 in 3

My daughter, who's smarter than me, says there's no question.

My friend posted this on his fb so i thought I'd see your responses since the airplane on a conveyor belt was so entertaining.

If you choose an answer to this question at random,

If the answer is (b) or (c) it's 25%. If the answer's (a) or (d) it's 50%. So the answer is dependent on the probability of the answer, being 1/3.

So:
1/3 x 2/4 = 2/12
1/3 x 1/4 = 1/12
1/3 x 1/4 = 1/12
= 1/3 or 1 in 3

The question does not appear to be stated. What question are you answering?

My daughter agrees, lol! I was answering what I thought was a hypothetical question relating to the probability of selecting one of the given answers. I assumed the question was irrelevant.

I thought so as well. Either the riddle is just poorly worded(thus making you correct) or worded that way as a trick. This isn't the first time anybody's seen a seemingly unanswerable question on a legitimate multiple choice test.
