These fighters are only as good as their avionics and weapons systems--electronics.

This is why things like the CHIPS Act and other legislation that prevents the latest technology to be exported (either physical chips or to be made there--equipment and designs)) are important. Repatriation of semiconductor manufacturing and denial of the latest tech, specially "AI chips" is critical to US and western defence advantages.

Sure they will eventually copy stuff, by then the west should be onto the next.

In theory that works but in reality we end up seeing news stories of the FBI arresting and hauling off some Chinese nationals that somehow made it through the background security check to get hired into the development team.
The alphabet team usually springs into action well after the completion of the project tho.

I guess you just leave your house doors unlocked, car doors unlocked and keys in the ignition, etc. as news stories say people are just going to steal your stuff and they don't catch them before?

There is no need to just hand it to them.

Your reply make zero sense to me.
The point that i was trying to make is that western tech and defense industries have a very poor record of vetting the academics and researchers that they hire for sensitive projects.
Foreign power agents seem to make their way into the mix with regularity.
The FBI tends to catch on some where after the fact and holds a news conference to show what a good job they did figuring it all out.
 
I think part of it is a academics think they are smart , so smart enough to vet foreign agents and miss everything, but having a background check by the FBI or CSIS isn’t even on the radar , it’s that “govt bad” thing , except the poo bag of funding we are getting …
