Check your license plate expiration

And that's the reason why I printed our receipts and keep them with the ownership...you just never know...oh, and we scraped our old stickers off...not an easy job though...
I removed my stickers and keep the receipt. Better safe then sorry for the cost of a piece of paper.

Has anyone figured out the best way to remove a sticker from a plate? Tried to heat it up before peeling, but it still left a lot of residue. Tried to remove it with goo-gone - no bueno. Tried to apply elbow grease - almost ruined the plate itself, but the glue is still there 🤷‍♂️

Any ideas? Except covering it with another sticker as suggested by @Scuba Steve above?

A sharp utility knife should get under and lift the sticker off and then some Ronsonal (lighter fluid) works like a charm on the residue.

Nothing does. Tried WD40, chain cleaner, goo gone. Heated with a heat gun and scrubbed with a credit card. Damaged the licence plate in a few places, as top layer of the plate almost melted ever before a sticker started to peel off. Scrubbed a residue as much as possible with fingers while it was hot, and the the rest just stuck there forever. :(

So in short - should have listened to @Scuba Steve ‘s advice and just covered it with a white sticker.

That sticky crap must be from another galaxy if WD40 won’t remove it😂

Don't be like me. Apparently, the plate on my bike expired last year shortly after I purchased it.
Why didn't you go for the 2 years now that it's free? That's what I did. Nothing changes at the MTO, the only difference is that you don't pay and you don't get stickers, but you have to report/renew as always.

New bike and new plate from the dealer. When I renewed, it was for two years.

The white reflective paint peeled off along with the library of stickers on the plate.
Rather than risk a ticket for a defaced plate, I opted to get a new plate (the old one was a vintage of 20+ years)

I don't think cops enforce that. I've seen OLD Ontario plates on some cars that don't have one indentifiable number/letter and I don't believe that no cop has stopped behind them.

I am risk-averse
Also if there is a "situation" and the gent in blue decides to throw the book at you, then that is one less infraction.
