Just follow the instructions from here to unlock it. My question is what to do after it's unlocked. How to install better/extra software/maps and from where? I'd love to see Garmin maps on it...

Down the three files, unzip them and copy them to a SD Card, plug in and run, you might have to delete the files inside the speedcam folder first, but try it without first.
I'm right on it, thanks! Will report how it went.
while you are at it, before copying the files get the TTS working by downloading one of the files in this link and move the whole folder into the main directory of iGo8 and overwrite anything it asks.

So far so good. iGO8 runs like a dream and Kate is music to my ears, thanks a bunch masalma!
The only quirk I noticed so far is the sound that's too loud. I'll try again to adjust it tomorrow.

Vlad, there's also a volume increase mod. Just go to the same link that Nas gave us and download it.

Ooops.. Maybe he installed the mod before testing the unit first. However, unless the unit is crackling, the volume cannot be too loud for mei think vlads issue was the volume was TOO loud
Did anyone get the voice prompts to work on the iGo system?
I downloaded and over-wrote the files included with Kate, and then selected her voice when asked to do so, but it only beeped at me and didn't talk - at least in route simulations.
