Chain and sprockets

I installed a one tooth smaller engine sprocket on my '02 Vstrom that had tall gearing.

Made for a great torquer in all gears but threw my speedo out of whack by about 15%.

I'm excited to try out +2 in the rear and looking forward to a little more grunt and shorter 1st gear. From my understanding the speed is picked up from the ABS sensor on my bike.

In stock form my bikes speedo is actually off by about 1-2kph starting from 90kph. The faster I go, the greater the difference between what the speedo reports and what my GPS reports. When my bike shows 120kph, Waze shows about 111kph. I know Waze is accurate because when I'm doing 115kph in the car on cruise control, Waze reports anywhere between 114kph to 116kph.

In some ways I don't mind the ambitious speedometer...keeps me out of trouble 😂

Go to a 520 set to save the weight. The strength of the chain will be listed on the manufacturer’s website and you’ll find high quality ones are just as strong as your oem heavier 525/530 units.
For my Ducati I found a set from a European website quite a bit cheaper than local so give that a look.

Ended up ordering the sprockets from bayside performance (Superlite 49t rear and 16t front). Shipping from SprocketCenter.com would have been 80USD...not worth it.

I didn't buy the chain from them as price was a high, but going to go with a RK 520GXW. I really like the black and gold.

Finally got this done and took it for a short test ride. I'm happy with the results so far. I need to test it out more, but I can tell there is slightly more pull in every gear and that annoying spot between not knowing if you should be in 1st or 2nd (stop and go traffic) seems to be fixed.

I can just stay in 2nd gear now without the bike bogging down. The +2 teeth in the rear and the 1050 throttle tube have been the best mods so far.
