CBR125 Depriciation For Dummies

Re: California Dreamin

That's why I asked if they appreciated in value, but then again the 125 is sold.

Are they really that dear, or is the greater idiot theory working in full force for bikes?

In the end you both bought the same hunk of........ !

What is your point? I bought my cbr125 for 2399 + 200 pre delivery. Out the door with plates $3050. I went from zero to 32000 km on my bike. It's still going. I will ride it until it craps out. The only way to buy a bike is new unless a bike is bought according to depreciation 101 principles.

You think that's unreasonable? It's not even broken in yet, and it comes with an exhaust and an alarm that's basically free!
Sold it for full asking price, had people offering me MORE once I told them it was sold :) Man peeps love those CBR 125's!

You have to wonder why someone would put money into and exhaust and an alarm to only turn around and sell the bike.
I gave her the exhaust for her birthday, so technically she didn't pay for it, and her dad gave her the alarm. She had two close friends die on bikes and decided it wasn't for her :(

Now we have CBR250 Depriciation For Dummies lol (Same guy)

2011 Honda CBR250R ABS, 4,000+km's, $6,000

Hey man, I don't set the prices, I just list these things for people! It's sold for $5,500 (guy left a deposit while he gets a quote on insurance).

i just saw one go for about 7-8 hundred with some cluster headlight damage. http://www.starkautosales.com/car_details.php?stockn=TG4846&C=&S=74
Wow, click "theft recovery" and look how many bikes there are :(

That's just sad.

Re: California Dreamin

Already bought a '09 r6 few weeks ago ;)
After riding the r6, the 250 seems like a scooter. I couldn't ride it anymore.
Yeah, it was super funny watching you ride it to the buyers house, full throttle redline shifts the whole way, you had a look on your face like "what's wrong with this thing?" LOL!!! Once you get use to the power, it's hard to go back!! I loved your "WTF, only 30kph in 1st gear? my R6 does 130!" lol ;)

Definately, the greater idiot at work theory indeed.

Don't overpay!

There is forum for the cbr125. There are alot of modded bikes out there you have to be weary about. Especially the ones who have done the disasterous camshaft mod. That mod has left a trail of wrecked bikes. A guy had an athena kit running in his bike and was running great for thousands of kms. He got sucked into this mod and his engine blew. Also, there are some stock bikes that have crapped out with less than 20000 km. Don't overpay for a used cbr125. The resale market for these bikes can't be trusted.

The problem is that Honda dropped their price on the CBR125R radically. So those folks who bought them pre-2010 paid a heck of a lot more than what they are now. Sucks to be them. I kinda feel bad for them.

I have a friend who bought one for his daughter in 2007....she only rode it a couple of times and showed it to me today. It is showroom floor condition....only a total of 212 km's on it.....he said he would sell it to me for 1500.00....do you think that is too much? I was thinking it was a good deal.....

It's only 1500 bucks. What do you expect to get for 1500 bucks? A good bicycle maybe.

good deal. send it to me the link if you dont want it lol

Can you blame them, if they can get away with it?

It's a free market. A bike is worth what you get for it. There are people who think their bikes should not devalue. They literally never sell their bikes.

This has all been screwed up by free ads and kijidiots. The actual listing price is not near reality, and buyers should know three facts:
1. Getting a person to actually show up with money is very difficult.
2. Any and all offers not in person are just kids playing on the interweb net.
3. If you show up to buy a bike, make a serious firm and fair offer, you will get the bike. If not, you are better off with other sellers, walk. They will call you or they are complete idiots.
4. The GTA is incredibly broke and cash is hard to get, it is always a buyers market in the GTA if you have the cash, otherwise, overpay with financing.

A few years ago, some guy in Oakville listed his house for $1 looking for a bidding war. He refused to sell the house at the highest offer because he said it was "worth more". In a free market, anything is worth what you get for it and has nothing to do with what you paid for it.
