Too many people in Toronto prefer to buy used. Same reason you don't want to buy new, is the reason the used bike market is so high.

State farm just gave me $2100+ tax for an 07 with 14000km on the clock

There are a lot of 125's at either end of the price spectrum.

I know someone who bought a 125 for 1400, sold it a week later for 2100 and bought another 125 for 1500 which had some paint work done to it. If you shop around there are reasonably priced 125's out there, but they tend to sell quickly or are in out of the way places (not the GTA). Like most other bikes people try to sell them for as much as they can get rather than reasonable prices.

I paid $2700 for a used 125, got $2100 back from the insurance company for it (after putting 20k km on it) and then paid $3000 for a brand new one.

A lot of people look at it as I paid $4000 for this bike new, so I should be able to get around $3000 for it used, or expect to get money back for maintenence and mods.

Why are you not jumping on this deal, 2500 for an 08 bike? Really? For another 1000 you could get a 2011 from a dealer with 0 km. How can you people pass on this bargain? :snorting:

$1000 extra is 40% more than $2500. Yeah its "only $1000 more" but the whole bike is only $2500. Even if the bikes were the same price, I'd still take the one with 883km, alarm, exhaust, cover, and chain. 883km is nothing.

The worst thing I find right now is the zx6r's.

Most 09's are selling around 8000-8500. Kahuna is selling brand new 2011's for 9999. Plus there giving you brand new shoei helmet,frame sliders,alarm,winter storage,2 year extended warranty, and couple other things. I don't understand why anyone wouldn't buy it brand new.

Even older ones too are prone to that. I've seen used 636's going for anywhere from $6000-7000 with around 20000-30000+km's on the clock. There even was one guy asking $7600.

I thought 636's were kind of unique compared to the new ZX6Rs because their slightly higher displacement gives them a lot more low-mid range torque. Although I haven't really looked into it a whole lot.

After riding one for three days I can now understand why there is a perpetual glut of them on the used market and why new riders don't keep them very long.

You have to wonder why someone would put money into and exhaust and an alarm to only turn around and sell the bike. What else has been done to the bike and what botched mod is she trying to off load onto someone else? Needless to say this bike is out of warranty. At 1000km there is a valve clearence check as per maintenance schedule. Is the buyer expected to pay for this service? Another reason to spend the extra 1000 buy new where there will be a warranty, zero km, and zero chance of being ripped off.

You all laugh, but they actually sell. I bought a '08 with 12k km for 2300. I will be reselling it with 20k km and I have no worries that I will be able to get around 2k.
