I want to convert my 09 CBR600RR into a street fighter. I have no where to beginning or what to do. I'm willing to learn. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Any tutorial or guides would be appreciated.

Yes I know it's better to take it to someone who knows what they are doing but want to try myself first.

Thanks!

Have fun selling it after
Yeah, I can see how that could be a nuisance, it's a great idea if he plans to keep the bike for many more years to come.
Personally, I don't think the 600RR will make a good looking street fighter, there are a few builds on 600rr.net.

Also, are you planning on just taking off the fairings and adding a headlight with dirt bike handlebars?
Or are you building a real street fighter?

Plus, you don't get the cheap insurance that usually goes along with naked bikes. Your VIN number is still a sportbike's VIN number, so your rates are based on what it used to be, regardless of what you turned it into.

May as well sell it and start with a naked bike. Not to mention, very few Japanese liquid cooled sportbikes have attractive motors.

Not a good bike to turn into streetfighter. Leave that bike the way it is to do corners.

You can "do corners" without bodywork just as well. But after building a half ass naked R6 myself, I really don't see the point.

Do these "naked" bikes feel much lighter without extra body work? Srs question.

You are better off to sell the bike unmolested, and buy a streetfighter from someone. They are cheap to buy used, because they can't sell.

If you have to, do the Ton has a alot of expertise.

The difference in bodywork weight is less than the difference between full/empty gas tank. Naked bikes look cool, but the constant air blast on highways gets old fast.

"Street fighters" were a genre of SS bikes that cropped up in the 80s after people crashed their SS bikes and decided to not replace the fairings. Since these were primarily urban street racers, the look caught on.

Yeah, I wouldn't do that to my bike haha
My stunt bike probably yes

its easy.
1. - remove fairings
2. - tape flashlight on to front
3. - add zipties to anything you can.

done!

Thanks for the feedback. What I want to do is not ideal, but reason why I'm doing it is because I don't want the hassle of buying and selling. I like the bike and want to keep it.

I would paint all the body panels all one colour and put on a tubular bar kit is what I would do.

Selling and buying is easier than not be able to sell half *** streetfighter afterwards....

if you wanta streetfighter go for it. its not like you cant turn it back if you ever want to sell it, just keep the OEM parts.
from what ive heard tying back the wiring is the biggest job. just buy a aftermarket headlight, there are some really cool ones out there.
also, if you decide to sell your OEM parts you will make a few bucks back, i think the headlights go for $150 each
