CBR 600 F4 Rear Rotor

Seems like a waste if you're not getting better braking than an OEM set up!
Using the rear brake at highspeeds especially on the track for slowing down is pretty much useless. At slower speeds the braking characteristics are very similar. The main reason behind this type of ultra lite rotor is to reduce the rotational mass. When you think that 1oz of weight on a 17 inch wheel, at 100mph is equal to about 25lbs of rotational mass. 18oz weight loss on a wheel (1.125lbs which is the average weight savings you get on these type of rotors) will result in roughly 450lbs of rotational mass at 100mph. thats a pretty big number! 450 less pounds of rotational mass....i can email you the formula on how much faster your motorcycle will accelerate? or how much easier your motorcycle will handle corners at various degrees, and imagine saving 450lbs of rotational mass on your wheel.....how much easier would your bike will slow down? These rotors have been used on teams competing in the canadian superbike series, soar superbike series, and many more regional and national racing events....I can assure you these rotors were not designed just for show. There are serveral race wins these rotors were a part of. And i can assure you there will be more :)

I think you’re confusing some rules of physics and numbers here. A 1 oz. weight imbalance on a 17” rim at 100 MPH (1400 RPM) will cause about 29 lbs of centrifugal force. An 18 oz. imbalance would indeed be over 450 lbs of force, over 500 lbs in fact.

However, your rotor is balanced (presumably) and is much less than 17” in diameter. AND , centrifugal force is completely unrelated to acceleration or deceleration.

The lightweight rotor will absorb less energy to spin it up to 100 MPH (1400 RPM) and return less energy on deceleration. But, will this have an appreciable effect on acceleration or braking? We can calculate the energy stored in a spinning ring of 18 oz at 1400 RPM. If we (generously) size the ring at 8” the energy stored is about 57 joules. 57 Watt Seconds. If we consider that the bike accelerates from 0 to 100 MPH in 5 seconds, then 11.4 Watts or 0.015 HP. On a 150 HP bike this would be a difference of 1 one hundredths of one percent.

Unsprung weight is a different story. A rear wheel assembly on a modern sport bike will weigh in the 25 ~ 28 lb range. Many dollars are spent on forged wheels that are 2 ~ 5 lbs lighter than stock. Your rotor takes off more than one lb quite easily.

No question lighter is good. But, taking one and a quarter pounds out of the rear rotor will have not “unleash” the power of any bike and will have a VERY small effect on acceleration and deceleration.

To be honest most of my sales are from word of mouth. I dont try to push anything really. I started making these about 2 years ago for my self and some buddies and it took off from there.

Im not Jamie M... i did not pay him or tell him to post up my info....i actually did a look up on my name on google last night and this popped up. I dont make a living on this stuff, this is something a do on the side of my full time job for a hobby because I love make stuff and i love doing stuff on my bike and motorcycles.

I have 3 race teams that i get a lot of positive feedback on from these. So coming from them they do see a noticable difference. And for some people the difference might be a thousanth of a second a lap . in a 30 lap race that might be the difference between a 1st place finish or a 4th place finish.

Im not a pro rider by any means .....but if you look up on my facebook im sure you can ask the pros who use them there feedback on them...im sure they wont mind.

sorry rockerguy if i have offended you in any way. im not here to sell you anything. like i said ,my side buisness is pretty much all generated by word of mouth and referals. i hope you you can appreciate a guy that just likes to do stuff on bikes and has a passion with the things that he does .

I don't think anyone would think that ;)

I love your rotor, still locks her up solid for tech inspection ;)

Every time anyone here or on R1 forum or R6 forum needs front or rear rotors I send them your direction. Your front rotors are the same price as the china rotors that take a month to get here and shatter without warning, so why wouldn't people run yours instead? lol. It's a no brainer :D
