I see statistics from time to time that attempt to paint a negative perception of a certain demographic in motorcycling over the last 30 years or so. Where police and government would like us to believe that machine size and young riders are responsible for more deaths, they aren't. This seems to me that these reports are about as meaningful as the "crackdowns" that the Opp announce from time to time. Does those crackdowns reduce the targeted bad drivers each time they do them? No, they don't, so why do they keep doing them? The answer is FEAR. The police are power hungry control freaks who thirst for power and control. They work for the government and insurance companies to provide increased revenue and reduce risk to a ridiculous extent. If they were truly concerned about safety they would get serious about getting BAD drivers off the road such as those that enter the highway doing 60 km/h causing havoc and sitting in the left lane doing 100. Remember that statistics can be made to show anything, even the truth. If the OPP can paint a half baked picture of death statistics and the top crook Kathleen Wynne hears about it, we'll have additional laws similar to the redundant stunt driving laws that penalize anyone doing anything other than living a boring life like a bunch of good sheep should. I believe that if we lived in a truly "free" country, the police would not be allowed to announce that they will be focusing their efforts on any segment of the population for whatever reason, including the driving public who are no more apt to do something illegal during the crackdown times than any other time. They even announce crackdowns when the weather gets warm in the spring fer chrisake! The public is being conditioned little by little to relinquish our freedoms by the police and government. I'm not paranoid or a conspiracy nut, I just see this country being a different place than when I grew up. In that canada, the police state that occurred during the G20 would have been answered with the arrest of government officials and every police officer not wearing a name tag and badge number.
