did you get an insurance quote.

Very nice bike! I'm partial towards the F/X version but $$ to get into one is more than I'm willing to spend right now.

Naw I still have to get an insurance quote, I doubt it'll be that much higher than my 250 though..... At least I hope not haha.

When I got quotes b/w the 250 and 500cc bikes it went from $650/year to around $1100/year or so. But each case is different. And I think I have enough experience now that I can look elsewhere beyond StateFarm.

I want the 500x.

Perfect for what i have in mind. A lil bit of touring just outside the GTA. Maybe a few flat trails. And 2-3 long trips during summer outside of ontario.
And also my daily commuter.

We'll see next year how my budgeting skills evolve

Hmm I pay about $900/yr with my 250r, I'm a bit on the younger side so that's probably why. I remember talking to my SF agent about maybe upgrading in the future and he said the jump wouldn't be too much especially if I maintain a clean record, which I have. I'll be sure to post up the numbers he offers me.

I hope the jump is under $300.00, when I sat on this beauty I knew I had to get it.

damn this popularity. not going to be much discount with dozens of us haggling over a handful of bikes. i pay 66/mo. now on my ninja 250, was paying 67 for the cbr250. got quoted 131 on a cbr600 (and an fz6r, go figure), so i'm guessing this will be under 100 for me at SF. damn that accident.

I just spoke with SF and asked them what would my insurance be on a 1997 Virago 535 and the quote that came back to me is $1400/year! That's over double the CBR250R...mind you TD Insurance came in around $800 which is ... ok at best...

Considering SF goes by cc I think the CB500R/F/X would be near the $1200-1300/year range for me.

If you are going for that bike I'd cut a deal now and get the best financing you can swing. Dealers like to have one in the bag and then they can order another bike.

I think cash is the winner on this bike. Financing is around 9% on the 500s at the moment as they're brand new bikes. Same with cars...always high % at the start. Like someone posted, they were quoted about $600-700 lower than the OTD price I calculated a few days ago. That may be as good as it's going to get for a while.

No need to panic about dealer inventory in Ontario. Many US dealers will wave the PDI and will sell below the US MSRP. The ones that do this are true power sellers and movers of bikes and make their money on volume selling. Volume sellers is where to buy from, not the one off dealers begging for business.

But he can't buy in the US easily - he'll still pay state sales tax and then 13% at the border
then- speedo n'all issues and who is power dealer in Canada on mid range bikes?
Don't think there are any 1 off Honda dealers any more.

1000k in, delaware or new hampshire no sales tax. Always good to get the break in out of the way and save a few bucks as well.

Hmmm...I do have a sister in New Jersey! May need to stop in DE next time I'm there.

If its a digital dash (can't remember from the show) would it be as simple as hitting a switch to switch over to kms vs miles? I think lights are on all the time so that shouldn't be an issue.
