jb weld??

They've been making copper cooking vessels since... forever I think.

OP: Take it to a REAL welder and have him braze the hole.
Done.
Mine are tinned.

"Copper pans are a great heat conductor and allow you to adjust temperatures precisely, making them nice cookware for sauces and other foods. While cooking with most copper pans is safe, unlined copper cookware can potentially leak copper into food, causing nausea and health issues."

There's a reason for copper and copper based bottom coatings on ships.

The finest stills in Scotland are copper , I’m good with it . I think.

There was talk that it could cause altzheimer's.
My Ma had an aluminum cookware set since day one.
She made it to 91, and the old boy hit 86. Neither had any symptoms. (they both chain smoked Export Green home rollies into their 80's amazingly, with no lung cancer). Anomalies.

I had heard an altzheimers thing, I thought that had been debunked ? Big thick aluminum pots are the staple in most commercial kitchens , wonder if there is another issue that's come up?

Copper bothers me due to oxides and dissimilar metal corrosion. I'd go with with an unplated 1/4" steel bolt with silicone washers. Are we taking bets or is this a poll?
Copper is popular in cookware, the amount of oxide that develops on a rivet is negligible... not dangerous.

Cast iron and copper are similar in nobility, the won't be sacrificial corrosion.

Thermal expansion isn't an issue, they expand about the same and copper is soft, won't hurt iron.

Old copper pots had a thing about lead from soldered joints leeching into dinner , but how much ? And is it any worse than the dozens of other sources of lead in a house

Up until 1990 tin/lead solder was used for potable water in houses in Canada. The USA was four years ahead of us.

When the news broke there were all kinds of warnings to rip out our plumbing and run the kitchen tap for five or ten minutes in the morning to flush the line. Electric kettles were suspect. Throw them out.

I don't think many people did the above and did we turn into a country of idiots? Hmmm. Ignore the question.
