Carpal tunnel repair...too many years riding and computing

My mom had both hands done about 20 years ago. She was an office admin so using a computer was rather difficult (family business). It took about 2-3 weeks for her to start to get normal motion back into her hands. The strength took a little longer.

I'd agree with what was said above. Look around 4-6 weeks in actual recovery time to get back to full, or close to that.

gonna be tricky with my travel schedule and surgeon appointments...we'll see what the doc says....oddly there is some evidence the condition is improving so I'll try and keep the wrist splints on more.

the better splints for carpal tunnel have the metal support on the backside of the hand/wrist so as to avoid pressure on the carpal tunnel all together.

I'm unsure if any off-the-shelf brace will really help long term. Carpel tunnel syndrome results from inflammation of the median nerve and or various tendons, thus making it too tight in the tunnel. A brace with a metal stay on the dorsal part of the hand will limit movement and therefore help reduce some inflammation, but this may be only a small improvement. The only way is to try and see.

Here is a custom orthotic WHO wrist hand orthotic that limits all wrist movement.
