Car Shopping

I've gone to see cars listed as "excellent condition" that were literally rusting out and had parts falling off of them. So annoying.

I don't know where you're located but pretty much every used car dealership in Guelph/KW area are crooks except my parents claim to have had good experience (twice) with Wilson's.

Subaru of Brampton screwed me hard so don't go there.

does anyoine have any insight on why theres minimal effort to sell a car ? lol

Why are dealerships using OLD pictures to sell newly listed vehicles ?

can an yone reccomend Good respectable honest dealerships, and who are *total crooks ( *in your Opinion. )

what type of car are u looking for ?

I've been to this guy a few times, honest, gets you a pretty decent deal by grabbing a car for you at auctions: http://nihonauto.com/contact.php

You just tell him (Jimmy) what you're looking for and your price range and he'll add like $100-200 for his work/time and cleaning up the car (he inspects too obviously at the auction).

There was another guy working there who was really nice, I was waiting for Jimmy while he was out picking up a car and he was showing me how to tell if a car has been in an accident by looking at the paint edges, etc.

Also had a R1 they came across in the showroom too for eye candy

ive looked at 6cyl Grand Cherokees, 2001 + under 220k

2002+ altimas, 2.5 and 3.5

2002+ camry's

that type of thing.. nice looking, can take the wife and kids around and not be embarrased
looking for something decent on gas, so no 8cyl stuff

nothing too small. a nice mid size car.

Nothing like a picture of a car caked in snow to the point where you cant see it.. that's what really sells!

When i would call a dealership and ask the car history and then look it up myself on carfax 9 out of 10 cars i was lied to about.

Every dealer tells you 1 owner, no accident local car. Turns out majority of them are wrecks, out of province or had 7 owners and ended up being sold at an auction.

At 220kms and 2001 you're wasting your money imo.

A well maintained car at the age and mileage is going to start to have problems. Things age and wear out.
Now most people don't maintain their cars all that much and won't put money into an old car like that, instead they'll drive it till they can and then try to sell it for the most $$$ to get a new car.

When getting used cars i always try to get something a couple years old under 80k, so there isn't much the previous owner could have skipped out on maintenance.

I figure you spend a bit more now and maintain it yourself or buy a headache. And for the record my first car was a complete disaster and i've learned my lesson since.

Biggest tip i can give you is carfax that ****, there are a lot of dishonest people out there.

just because a carfax report says no accidents, doesnt mean it hasnt been in an accident, it just means it wasnt reported.

I;ll trust my eye over a carfax report any day of the week. you can tell what car has been hit if you know what to look for.

Obviously, however if the carfax looks like a phone book you might as well save yourself the drive. Ive gone from etobicoke to newmarket, carfax was clean, guy seemed legit and claimed no accidents. It was clear once i got there the car was in a serious collision. Waste of my day and fuel. You can't always save yourself the trip, but a lot of times its a good first step to carfax that mofo.

I've even had one dealership show me a different carfax report claiming the car was never involved in an accident. When i checked the vin however i realized that they showed me a carfax for a different car on the lot. I checked myself and it had 10K+ worth of damage. Woodbine toyota for anyone that cares...

I would exercise great caution when buying a vehicle, new or used. Try to get a low price. Also, red stands out. If you're always in a hurry, keep that in mind. You might do well with Victorian Order of Nurses gray.
