Car rant

No ranting here ..just lovin the tdi's. Picked up a 2003 jetta wagon TDI with the ALH motor for commuting to save my f150 just for towing. I average around 38mpg with the auto but when it dies will swap in 5 speed for 50mpg. Car is a joy to drive and minimal rust...will be painting it in the fall.

@TwistedKestrel at least some cars still offer a dummy spare.

With weight saving pushes all around my Volt has an inflator instead of any type of spare.

If I didn’t need my trunk for my PPE I’d drive around with a winter tire as my spare (and vice versa for winter). Did it like that in the 2014 Volt.

But I need the space and can’t fit it all in that trunk.
You have in inflator… guessing you have a rope style patch kit to go with it? Or mushroom plug?
Have about 1500km on my Nissan Frontier front tire with a rope patch. Thing is amazing.

Things I miss:
  • Standard transmissions, especially for 1/2 ton pickups.
  • Side vent windows & footwear vents
  • Bench front seats
  • No B pillars
  • Full size 2 door sedans

Bench seats: The bucket / console looks nice but eliminates the possibility of a legal second passenger. Does that make the buyer upgrade to a cab plus at extra $$?

That car looks really clean for that year. Someone must of taken good care of it.

I had a 2004 TDI Golf. It was an awesome car and I loved it. Only got rid of it as it was too small for a family car.

I wish they made more station wagons these days.

I have a good contact for painting cars if you need. Located in Milton.
