pretty surprised the tiger has an old fashioned key...doesnt it come with EVERYTHING? (cruise control, quick shifter, heated seats, heated grips, etc etc etc )

Yes. Apparently, Brits haven't taken to keyless fobs as quickly as Americans.

So much wrong about that article.

Climate Control:
I would NEVER want to go back to manual climate control. Even my old 2007 MDX has a sun sensor to tell which direction the sun is and adjusts temperature accordingly, but even without it, my other cars need WAY less adjusting than I ever did with manual. The misuse of automatic climate control is one of my biggest pet peeves about cars. The problem most people just can't help themselves and need to play with the fan speed after setting their target temp. Well duh, once you do that you're in manual fan mode and locked to the speed you set. Fan speed is how the system regulates the temp, so you've effectively disabled it. Either that or they make massive changes in the set temp thinking that will heat/cool more quickly. NO IT DOES NOT, but it keeps heating or cooling until it gets to that new target, and they end up having to make another big change again to re-compensate. Its a a never -ending loop. And as for controls that are buried under sub-menus - well, that's what test drives are for. If I don't have ready access to commonly required controls, I won't buy it.

Column shift:
Seating has nothing to do with where the shifter is located. I've driven a few Mercedes with column-shift, but still no middle seat. My Odyssey also had column shift but never offered a middle front seat even though there was room.

Not even worth talking about the rest.

@TwistedKestrel at least some cars still offer a dummy spare.

With weight saving pushes all around my Volt has an inflator instead of any type of spare.

If I didn’t need my trunk for my PPE I’d drive around with a winter tire as my spare (and vice versa for winter). Did it like that in the 2014 Volt.

But I need the space and can’t fit it all in that trunk.

I'm seeing more more new cars with Run Flat tires now. A relative just ordered a 22 Lexus NX and we discovered this.

Thats another one…run flats can’t be repaired as far as I recall. A nail in the tire could cost you $300-600/tire.

None of my cars will ever have run flats.

The wind noise was stupid with most no draft , and they still made a draft .
I do not miss manual chokes on cars , or even automatic chokes that had to be set with the gas pedal . Or gas fillers under the license plate . Or giant chrome bumpers . Or bias ply 30k tires , fan belts every 20k , timing chains at 50k , having the oil light come on 20 mins after you were well out of oil.

you most definitely can plug run flats. my shop has done it in the past. just like any other tire, tread only repairs.

some manufacturers recommend not to because they don't know how long some people may have driven on them deflated. Some bozos probably drive a week empty and compromise the sidewalls.

Did you ever notice that with FI you hardly hear the starter crank anymore?

Go back far enough and you could push start an automatic.

I like the retro style of some classics but the safety and durability, not so much.

One thing I miss is the size. I had a 67 Dodge with a trunk big enough to sleep in. Of course with size comes fuel consumption and the stylists gave the finger to the aerodynamics designers.

Vacuum wipers?

Nice. Thanks for that. I thought once the tire is damaged it's no longer able to be used.

Which reminds me...I need new tires at some point in this season lol. Have enough tread for 1 season.

Costs costs costs. Never stops!

Just because this is a motorcycle forum, here’s my tire collection at the moment….
