canceling insurance during winter months is this doable

The good thing about your plan is that your bike has 0 chance to get stolen during that time you policy is cancelled.

The way I understood insurance on a motorcycle is you pay for coverage for the entire year and you pay for it in full. If you cannot pay for it in full, you have the option to finance it over 12 months plus a financing fee which is essentially a loan. And like any loan, if you cancel it, you still owe the balance plus a penalty.

Wait till he goes to TD with just a bike policy and his payments are Mar 31 - Sept 31...lol What ever will he do to "save" money.

I guess the insurers will never catch onto his scheme... I mean not like they can see all the cancellations and the developed pattern...oh wait they can.

ZX600 is 100% correct there is zero chance his bike will get stolen or be in a building that burns etc etc etc...

the way the 12 equal payments is like how you can have equal payments for natural gas, furnace oil, propane or electricity. I don't use my furnace in the summer but I'm making payments on the fuel for it through the summer, same thing is with motorcycle insurance, rather than say charge you 200 a month from april to september they allow you to pay $100 throughout the whole year so that the blow to your pocketbook is spread out. You end up being covered in december, january and february when you likely won't ride but occasionally you may get to ride in days those months depending on how mild the winter is and where in ontario you are. You also end up having coverage incase you want to trailer the bike to somewhere in the usa for a winter motorcycle vacation (or possibly ride there if the weather is right).
