I was at Parkers when they were around and a woman dropped a helmet she was looking at. She was told she just bought it. Will CTC be as diligent? That will certainly make it easier in underserved markets if they can make it work.

Legally they can't make you buy it .I was at Parkers when they were around and a woman dropped a helmet she was looking at. She was told she just bought it. Will CTC be as diligent?
Royal had signs "a helmet dropped is a helmet bought" I don't know if they still do. IMO you should buy it if you dropped it, but if it was a $1000 helmet??Legally they can't make you buy it .
What the sign says and what they can make you do are very different things. You can post a sign saying anything you want.Royal had signs "a helmet dropped is a helmet bought" I don't know if they still do. IMO you should buy it if you dropped it, but if it was a $1000 helmet??

It could end up in small claims court but would it be different than dropping a china vase other than the obvious damage? The shop would have to show documents from the safety associations proving that a drop rendred the helmet unusable.
The woman paid IIRC on a lower end lid.
That's if they even see you drop it.QFT - the store can sue you for the damaged item; but they cannot force you to pay, nor can they detain you until you pay...
With any type of lid, foam will probably be slightly deformed but I doubt that would be enough to matter without a head in it. It is possible to crack a fibreglass lid in a drop leaving a soft spot. It has to have a component of bad luck though. I suspect 99% of drops would not affect safety of the helmet.Without someone's head in it, the likelihood of causing any serious damage (other than cosmetic) is pretty low.
If you dropped your lid off the bar stool, would you immediately replace it ? I think not.
True. I've dropped my helmet from 2-3ft off the ground...didn't replace it yet.Without someone's head in it, the likelihood of causing any serious damage (other than cosmetic) is pretty low.

I was there 2 days ago. Signage is still happening.Royal had signs "a helmet dropped is a helmet bought" I don't know if they still do. IMO you should buy it if you dropped it, but if it was a $1000 helmet??
Same, but mine usually lands on the visor because that’s my luck.True. I've dropped my helmet from 2-3ft off the ground...didn't replace it yet.
