Canadian Tire no longer ethanol free?

Went to fuel up my car yesterday and they had stickers on the pumps, weren't there last time I visited. Asked the clerk about it and the look she gave me said she either didn't know or didn't care lol.

I’m gonna say the cashier was a little bit of Column A….and a little bit of column B on the know/care scale.

The federal gov mandated 5% ethanol years ago
Ontario gov mandated 10% ethanol last year

... the stickers are new, the ethanol isn't.

This could just be a case of some clueless employee sticking stickers on the pumps and really not having any idea what they're doing.

FWIW the Canadian Tire website is vague on things but seems to suggest (through the process of elimination) that their premium is still ethanol free:

"There are National and Provincial regulations that define energy policy and the use of renewable fuels. Some provinces require fuel that contains ethanol. Gas+ offers two ethanol grades. Our fuels comply with all renewable fuel regulations which typically involve an Ethanol blend containing a mix of regular gasoline and fuel grade ethanol. At our locations with renewable fuel content, our 87 octane E10 fuel has up to 10% ethanol content and our 89 octane fuel (mid-grade) has up to 5% ethanol content."

Premium is absent from that discussion, so I'm going to go out on a limb and read that as it still being ethanol free.

Someone want to call their CS line tomorrow to confirm?

Oshawa, Wilson & Taunton.
Check it in a week or two. It might have the same sticker low and mid grade have.
I read somewhere that's it's official......cdn tire 91 will all be E10%. (Can't find the link).
Shell, and possibly costco are E free 91. No where else.

Don't know about the Oshawa store, but if the no ethanol sticker is still on the pumps at the Waterdown store I would automatically assume there's 10% in the tank and the owner is pulling a fast one.

CTC is Shell. Unless they're going to blend the pumps differently nothing will change.

Then the pump must be marked as such.

True, but then you're relying on the scruples of the independent owner of the particular CTC that you pull into marking the pumps properly. Like I said above, I wouldn't trust the owner of the CTC by my place as far as I could throw him.
