Canadian Online Stores

I think it's about time they updated their website, every few months I check it's non existent :)
Also their customer support is not the greatest, sent them an email if they carry few jackets last week, replied that they do but didn't list prices :)
Sent them two emails asking for pricing, won't sent a third, took my business to GP Bikes.

Anyone going to the Spring Show next weekend (Apr 9-10)? At the Feb show Twisted Throttle was handing out a 10% off code, I'm hoping they will have it again. Not planning to go to the show so if you can post it here that would be super :)

I'm going to use this thread to vent about Canadian online retailers and Canadian suppliers in general.

I have been rebuilding a wrecked bike to use at the track since just before Christmas last year. The exchange rate is horrible, so wherever possible, I have been sourcing parts from Canadian retailers.

Frankly, I'm quite disappointed in the level of service and what is seemingly a lack of respect for their paying customers. I'm not sure if anyone else has noticed, but some of the retailers that have been noted as good in this thread, have been dropping the ball bigtime.

I'm not going to mention any names, but I'm getting increasingly frustrated when promised dates are missed, and chasing people for parts that have been paid for.

Maybe I am biased but realized I get better service from Americans

The service I've got from places like sportbiketrackgear and revzilla, is second to none. I do typically try canadian places first though, especially when the dollar is like it is right now.

I'm much more annoyed at the local brick and mortar stores.... they're in a recreational industry yet many places close in the early afternoon on Saturdays and all day Sundays.

Most people work during the week... wouldn't it make sense to be open as much as possible when your customers are off work -- i.e. weekends?

I know the shop owners need time off too... fine, open all weekend and close up Monday and Tuesday.

Don't know if this really fits the bill, but for any kind of phone/gps/accessory mount, www.gpscity.ca is unbeatable. Amazing selection, great prices and cheap shipping. Just picked up a ram mount for my iPhone 6

Curious as to what you paid? as I found Radioworld locally to be quite close in price

Just went through this myself. Some shops near me open at 10am, close at 6pm, closed all day Sunday AND Monday. It doesn't make it easy, does it?

That being said, I have had good results ordering parts from Snow City Cycle Marine. AND there hours 9-6 and 9-8 during the week.

I bought my last one years back from radio world, but this time I didn't even bother. I'm not in a rush to receive it (given this weather) and the selection online can't be beat. I got exactly the type of pieces I wanted. But yes, as for a brick and mortar store, radio world is the place to go

Ram 1" ball handlebar mount $13.95
Ram diamond backplate adapter $8.95
Ram short arm socket $9.95
RAm Apple iPhone 6 cradle $10.95

$57 after tax and shipping. Gonna look so sleek on my fz09. Mounts right into the handlebar clamp

Yup...most of them aren't exempt from my shitlist either.

Just a note regarding tyres; if you mention to a shop that you're also considering ordering from Pete's, they'll be peeved, but they might offer you a discount on installation (or refuse to accept your business if you bring your own tyres)

Last time I was shopping for tyres, it worked out cheaper for me to buy locally from the shop that was installing them, as compared to ordering from Pete's, shipping the tyres, and trying to find a shop that would install them... YMMV

You should mention names - we're on a forum, that's what this place is for! Praising good businesses, and ******** on poor businesses.

Yeah....did that once....never again, I change my own tires now. A few scratches on the rims the first couple of times, but I have it perfected now.

I know I should, but most, if not all, of these parts are racing parts. A sport which I am just getting into, I don't want to be seen as the whiney guy that is calling out other racers sponsors. I'll leave it at that.

Same experience here. I think it's because they actually carry stock. Canada is a rump market to most manufacturer and retailers. Huge size, limited sales and a famously passive-aggressive population with a cheap streak (GTAM lol). We don't manufacture a whole lot either, so our economy is limited by small distributors. Not many people want to put up with the hassle or risk, especially if there's a cozy government job-for-life available. Look at the traffic when there's a bank/government holiday. Virtually empty streets.

I've been going more and more to bluestreak for my stuff. Just got some more parts and I couldn't beat the price. When I did the exchange and shipping they were way cheaper.

I often ask myself why are these people in the Customer Service industry. If you can't put up with ********, you're in the wrong industry. If you want to intimidate & bully people maybe they should've been a bouncer or security

My experience as well. At GP while they were searching their books for the tires I wanted for my wife's bike I casually mentioned that I had found them online (hence why I knew exactly the ones I wanted) and they mentioned a discount moments later, in the end coming within $5-$8 per tire of what canadasmotorcycle.com had them for. I was happy to pay the difference to avoid the hassle of ordering online and then finding a place to install.
