Canada only 1 week big trip suggestions?

I just saw this reply, missed it earlier apparently.

That's interesting. But I can't find anywhere on there to get a price from YYZ to YVR or YEG. For that matter, it looks like they only do overseas now and not domestic at all. The website is very confusing.

My wife and I have been talking. Thinking of sending her ahead on a flight to Edmonton (we have family there 5 minutes from the airport) and I'd just Iron Butt out there in 2 days. I've had a Canadian 2000km in 24 hours Iron Butt Association ride in mind for a while now so I could knock that off easily on day 2 - Home to Thunder Bay on day 1, and then, super conveniently, Thunder Bay to Edmonton is just over 2000km. Depart super early on a Friday and arrive in Edmonton sometime overnight Saturday/Sunday.

Recharge and hang out with the family in Edmonton on Sunday, and then the wife and I would head into the mountains on the Monday. That would leave us 10-12 days to do whatever we want in the mountains and BC as a whole before heading back to Edmonton to drop her off to fly home, leaving me a a good chunk of time to head home. And because I'm stupid like that, I'd probably iron butt home as well lol.

Hmmmmmmmmm.
Try uship. I shipped a bike from Halifax to Toronto, door to door for $200.

Yeah, problem with YouShip is that you could end up with a professional, or you could end up with Bubbles from the trailer park and his 1995 dodge and a rickety trailer that might not even hold the bike upright the entire trip.

Timely.

I'm actually going through this exact exercise right now.

Currently, there are a handful of carriers that participate in motorcycle shipping via air: Air Transat, Air Canada Cargo, Westjet Cargo and CargoJet.

As of 2025, only CargoJet offers domestic shipping within Canada. The other three only ship motorcycles out of the country to European airports.

CargoJet uses Motorcycle Express as one of their Freight Forwarders. One thing to note is that they fly out of Hamilton, not Pearson. Also, your motorcycle isn't guaranteed a specific flight, it's on standby basis until a week before shipping. The other carriers will confirm flights from 14-45 days before shipping.

Plans to go back to WV again this summer are rapidly becoming less appealing with the batshittery going on south of the border right now - both the overall political climate, as well as my willingness as a proud Canadian who is being sh!t on right now to actually spend a dime of my tourist money there...so, looking for suggestions on a 1 week trip that stays north of the border.

- James Bay Road is out, did it last year.

- Newfoundland would be nice, but it's not a 1 week trip.

- We thought about the translab loop, but 100+ km of gravel on a Star Venture, a Goldwing, and an ST1100 is not super ideal.

- Gaspe is on the list, but not sure we can make a full week out of that staying strictly in Canada. Previous plans included Maine and Vermont to extend, but, yeah, no.

- Quebec 138 to the end is on the list, but again, just not sure we can make a full week out of that. Maybe in conjunction with the ferry and a Gaspe loop, perhaps.

Any suggestions? Motocamping or motels/hotels are fine. We like to get out into far flung places, but open to all suggestions.
Cape Breton is a personal favorite of mine. Have done it three time and would happily go back again. I'm considering aside up to Thunder Bay as a possible trip, but that's more of a long weekend than a week long trip.

I keep looking at it, but I am just struggling to really make it a destination. I did a whirlwind to the Cabot a few years ago (I think I mentioned already in this thread, I'm probably repeating myself now) and I was a little underwhelmed honestly.

Do you have a map of the route you took that you could share, as well as some pics?

I would hope the repairs to the island loop road are done - there are not that many variations. Certainly take a day at Meat Cove and go whale watching. I loved the cultural variations across the island ...whirlwind not good for that.
The fact you feel you can get there fast is a benefit - I'd do S Shore St. Lawrence on the way out take advantage of prevailing winds...then hop up to the North Shore on the way home. Catch Parc Morrisey for some fun....careful around Tremblant and N of Montreal anywhere hear the weekend is parking lot.
You could head north on the northern TransCanada if time permits....might avoid the mess around Montreal on the weekends.

Might have been a while ago. This is what I get from uShip currently. I assume this is pricing in USD as well:

That must have a euro or Desmo handling charge.

Here’s a Vstrom estimate from 5 minutes ago, door to door. Halifax to Markham.

My experience is offering $341 will get the deal in minutes. An offer of $200 would get taken within a week.

I have always had bikes delivered in perfect shape, usually in large enclosed car carrier trailers.

This is 2 mins ago. I changed the destination from Toronto to Markham. Seems to be postal code-sensitive, or Toronto surcharge. Similar numbers for the Desmo too.
