I have been looking for a month calling most of the known dealers for this helmet and no one seem to have stock or cant even order it for me. Ideally I would like to try this one before I buy it and shark sizing chart is still very general. please reply if you know of any store of dealer that would carry this and sell at decent price. I spoke to guy at GP bikes they say I would have to buy it before they order it and their price is $480 which is much higher than MSRP. Also, if anyone have info on similar fitment of any other shark helmet that I can try to get an accurate fitting.

Nice colour way.

I had the same problem sourcing a shark helmet a couple seasons ago. No one carried shark, then I was told Yamaha Dealers would carry them.. but the supplies are scarce. I emailed shark etc
In the end, I went to another brand which I ordered in at GP Bikes to get the colour I wanted. It worked out cheaper than MSRP as GP Were doing their Spring Sale event, (10% off) so I saved on the spare visor too.

SHARK decided early this year to be exclusively sold through Yamaha dealers only.

So you have 2 optioins:
1) order through your local Yamaha dealerships in which your selection will be limited, takes a long time, and pay a premium above the MSRP
OR
2) order online

I got mine from sportbiketrackgear. Same helmet, I was quoted $150 before tax above what I ended up paying as a total (and that's including the shipping fee & duties). I got my helmet on the 7th business days.

Edit:
Fit - SHARK fits more like an ARAI than a SHOEI. If you are a medium in ARAI, a medium SHARK will fit you perfectly. Super comfortable with the padding. My ARAI Corsair V was my favourite helmet, now it's my SHARK.

Thanks for quick reply. I did check out websites out of states; I have no problem shipping it there as I have a local address there. I am just concern about the fitment and accuracy of the size chart. I fall into size S according to the guide (55-56 cm). My Q is has anyone order helmet by just referring this chart and got a good fitting helmet.

who did you get the price ($150) from ? They list Shark SPEED R @ $400+.

Sorry, I should've been more clear. The locals were going to charge me $150 more (before tax) when compared to my total payment from buying from the states.

Speed R ranges from $400 - $440 depending on decals. I was quoted $600 and apparently there's no time commitment from the dealer... when it arrives, we'll call you .... which I dislike.

I didn't use the guide provided. I am a medium with ARAI and my medium SHARK fit me perfect.

I went to snow city yesterday. All excited, I asked if they have any speed R. The lady pointed at the showcase where they had 4 shark helmets (literaly) and that's all. I asked if they can order me one; she was not clear on her answer if they can or not. In other words, no

I just bought the Race-R pro from gp bikes 3 weeks ago. They had a few more there that you could try on and I'm sure they could order the model your looking for. I bieleve the Race-R pro just has some different features than the one your looking at so it would give you a good idea of how it fits.

Ready Powersports (Honda) just got a shipment of Shark in a couple weeks ago, not sure if that specific one is in there or not.

I just got off the horn with them. They expect the 2013 Speed-R models will be in stock within 2 months. North American distribution is not very active in Canada yet.

Oh boy... that's what I dislike about Canadian retailers. 2013 models in stock within 2 months? 2013 season is coming to an end... they should be stocking up on 2014 models :)

yup..called ready powersport they say they dont have speed r s ..thinking of just getting rf-1100

few people recommended HJC RPHA 10 ..was wondering how does it compare to speed r or rf-1100..just trying to see if there is any other choice than shoei or arai (not looking to spend $700-$800 on helmet yet)

Can't go wrong with the RPHA-10. Does not include an internal tinted visor, but who cares? Replacement visors are about $35.00, compare that to Arai or Shoei. I own an RPS-10, predecessor to the RPHA-10, but essentially the same, would buy another. Snell approved, suitable for track use, much less than $400.00. What's not to like? If it fits and is comfortable, buy one.

def. felt comfortable and cheaper as well.thanks
