Can I put up my Christmas lights now?

I wanted to do it last week, but my wife wouldn't let me.
She believes that freezing your ass off on a metal ladder is part of the process.

Careful... you might get cancelled...

Tell her to go out with her friends one weekend afternoon for coffee/shopping whatever and put them up while she's out...
I can drive her to work and put them up then. The problem will be once she gets home.

I'm planning on heading over to the Cenotaph on Friday for the service. I will bring my poppy.

I don't plan on turning them on until Nov. 25th at the earliest.

I've already been yelled at for putting a snow shovel out front. :(

I don't have roofline lights. Way too much money/effort. I leave lights up in a tall tree (~40') as they are a nightmare to put up. Lights that go out line the hedges. Need to remove them to trim as hedgetrimmer plus xmas lights makes a mess.
My neighbor put his on a giant Christmas tree. I think they're still there. I haven't seen him out with a giant ladder yet.

Was I supposed to take them down?

For those that leave them up June 25th is Xover Day. That's the day you go from being a lazyass for not taking them down to an insane Will Ferrell-esque Elf nutjob for having them up too early.

mine are Halloween/Easter/Ramadan/Yom Kippor/Xmas/New Year lights.

Clear floodlights then?

My neighbour had these very cool LED panels that can be programmed to be any colour via the app that comes with it. He lights up the entire front of his house with 2 panels.

It’s the future. Right now.

If/when I install roofline lights, very high probability that will be addressable LED strips. Sure they can be used for evil (gaudy flashing eyesores) but being able to switch from halloween to xmas by poking at your phone is pretty awesome. Black soffit/trough on this house so I need to do a trial section as I prefer indirect instead of seeing the strip.

Easter icicle lights!

I installed permanent RGB invidually addressable LED strips a few years back. They are hooked up to a WiFI controller that I can interface with via an app on my phone and program the lights to do all sorts of cool things. SInce each LED is indivually addressable it's "next level" versus the simpler RGB strips where they all have to be one single colour.

This is more or less the result, although mine can do some custom stuff as well.

In the summer sometimes I set them to a dim white so it's just accent lighting. At Halloween I set it to an Orange type cycling program with fall/halloween colours. St Patricks day our house is green...etc etc lol.

I took ours down this summer when the roof was getting redone.
My wife wants them up again. Actually new ones as squirelles ate though the old ones.
I said sure, I'll put them up, BUT they are not coming down. They live up there all year round.
Needless to say, I have not been asked to put them up again. (yet).

As for the "no Christmas lights until after Remeberance day" thing, pretty sure someone asked the legion a few years back and the "official" word was that people can do what they like.....as being able to do that sort of thing is one of the freedoms that our veterans fought for. I don't think veterans are in any way offended if people turn their christmas lights on before Nov 11'th.

You're my prototype house. I looked at the links you posted (much appreciated) but price at the time didnt work for me. Need to buy all I want in one shot plus some spares so color temp matches and after putting it in the cart, I wasnt that interested in paying that much for the project.
