Can I further reduce the noise on my aftermarket exhaust ?

I bought a Leo Vince GP Corsa Carbon exhaust for my ninja 250 because I didn't like the look of the original exhaust ( also has some rust issues).
I was excited to get something "louder" but after a while even with a Decibel Killer installed it started getting on my nerves  .

Just too loud and obnoxious sounding for a ninja 250 ..... (sounds like a dirtbike)

So anyways, is it possible to reduce the noise even further on the Leo Vince exhaust ? (I want to keep it because it looks way better than the OEM exhaust, although its too loud, I really don't want to go back to the OEM one cuz it's just plain ugly).

So anyone know of any tips, tricks, advice ?

a good fab person could. They could take your DB Killer and weld a smaller dia pipe on it.

Cheapest solution is ear plugs, which you really should be wearing regardless. I know a few riders that have substantial hearing loss, including myself from years of exposure.

There's 2 ways to cut the sound waves down, absorb them or restrict them. With my Hindle silencer I was setting off car alarms, it was that loud. I ended up repacking the silencer with Silent Sport packing, which is a premium stringy fiber, and making my own db killers by experimenting with various opening sizes.

db Dawg Available at most MC shops. Thinking about getting one for my Hindle...not a fan of obnoxious.

+1.

I got one for my Jardine to pass noise restrictions at Calabogie and left it in since. Nice to go for a ride and not end up with a migraine or draw unwanted attention from the Caledon po-po.

Ok, some questions,

1. The aftermarket exhaust on my ninja 250 is new , less than 500km on it. So would repacking it with "Silent Sport / Premium" change it , as in reduce the decibels ? Isn't repacking only done when the packing inside an exhaust has "degraded/worn out" due to mileage ?

2. The Leo Vince rep that sold me the exhaust said that the bike doesn't need to be re-jetted after I put it on (I doubt it, because I'm noticing some performance changes/issues, it's running leaner). My bike hasn't been re-jetted , so would I need to re-jet the bike after I put on a db Dawg ??

3. Is the engine's life expectancy reduced now or affected because the bike is running leaner / not been re-jetted ?

Yes, these are noobish questions. No matter how much I read up on this stuff, sometimes I just gotta ask some questions .

1. You can re-pack whenever you want.
2. If it's a slip on you likely don't need re-jetting. If it was a full system I would say yes. Re-jetting helps in both cases though as responsiveness picks up in the lower to middle rev range.
3. These bikes come from the factory lean. Making it leaner would not be good, but a slip on likely hasn't done much. The neg I have run into is lower torque off of idle, I experienced this with a bike that had a MGP Growler slip on and was obnoxiously loud.

If a Db dawg is installed, most likely you'll be running rich now. But I won't worry too much about that. INstall it and see how it performs.

I'm not familiar with the internal construction on a LV silencer. But, I do know that my Hindle was very easy to disassemble and repack with the Silent Choice. I basically drilled out the rivets, removed the end caps and pulled the guts out. Even after one month the packing roll was noticeably deteriorated. I inserted the core minus the packing roll and tamped down the loose string packing around it with a piece of broom handle. The tighter you can pack it, the quieter the pipe gets. It made a huge difference in sound reduction over the stock fiberglass packing roll. On an 18" oval silencer I used about 300 grams of packing, and it came in a 450g bag IIRC. Got it from Bike Bandit.

Most shops have that packing for off roaders etc. There are all kinds of videos on the web on how to do it.
