Can-Am re-enters motorcycle segment

Love that adventure bike, looks like a blast for the short run time. But sadly it is almost completely useless for any "adventures"
But on my property it would be a hoot

You want a trials bike not an adv bike for that. It will be hundreds of pounds lighter and way more fun.

The whole point of adv bikes is exploring and no trailer required. Short range ruins that. If I'm trailering to the trail head, I want a dirt bike not an adv.

Just think of all unquenchable lithium garbage fires to come. Landfills covered with millions of ever-burning carcass fires of cheap offshore e-cockroaches, lighting up the smog-thickened skies, the spewed toxic gasses seeping through our 24/7 breathing apparati as we pine for simpler, better days of internal combustion engines that easily lasted over 100km…

Good times.

I read the article. And while impressive...that's a LOT of promises. The same article you point to also indicates the following:

- Speed limits in India are MUCH lower (many 50km/h) with rural areas seeing 100km/h
- If you drive at US speeds the range would be potentially cut in half compared to the Indian test cycle
- 'of course, I'll remind you that's under the very generous Indian test cycle'

So while it is impressive...it is a far cry from being usable.

I'll ask @anterabae for comment as her Zero has decent range...and I'm sure she can let us know her avg riding distance city/highway before starting to fret about some range anxiety.
I'll bet you a Gladiator combo she rarely ever takes that on the highway. Range cuts in half, or worse.

City riding with my 13.0 I get about 170kms, and @Evoex nailed it with his "roughly half" once you hit highway speeds. I agree with an earlier comment that electric's a hard sell until they can do L3 charging and greater range. For me I'll never go back to gas, but I really wish I had L3 charging.

170km isn't bad at all actually. My commute to work is 55km door to door, half in traffic. And I have access to an L1 all day long at work so if it worked to re-charge the Volt to full...I'm sure it'll work on this also.

But the price...eye watering.

Actually don't want any bike, we're kind of making the same point as it pertains to range.

L1 on mine is 8-9 hours to go from empty to full. I wish I had that at the office. Not that I'm ever at the office. Back when I was though if my only ride was my commute I only had to charge once a week. My commute's about 15km and the time is the same whether I take regular streets or DVP.

Marc from Marks travels is confident at 300 km on a charge from his Zero.
The regen is pretty good on it as well/
I enjoy his posts. He's in Nepal at the moment
50,000 km he's ridden on his route from Germany to New Zealand.
I'm always entranced how quiet and fast it is....but $44k in Aus....nah....I'll wait.

Somewhere I have an old copy of Cycle Canada with an article on the CanAm two stroke street bike prototype. They agreed it would likely have been a killer ride but already the writing was on the wall for two smokers and the project was cancelled.

For most people BEV anything is best suited for relatively short commutes and urban owners. Do 60 - 100 km in a day and recharge overnight.

My rides are almost always in rural areas, last a minimum of 3 hours and are about 200 - 250 km in length. Chargers unavailable where I go.

There are a few trails and fire roads near the cottage. But, practically speaking, range would be an issue for me for a dirt or adventure bike.

I predict BRP sells very few of these bikes.

I also predict that the no ICE deadline of 2035 in Canada 2035 will never happen for a number of reasons. Any government trying to enforce this will be voted out of office.

That was always a stupid idea. PP will at the very least punt and push back the date. The next government in 2029 won't be able to reinstate a 2035 deadline as the lead time is too short.
