Following up on those that were asking about the RAV 4 Hybrid.
It's an excellent vehicle. I have the XSE trim. Good performance for an SUV. Great gas mileage. I'm averaging 7.2 l per 100 km. But I'm an aggressive driver and do alot highway driving.
The RAV 4 Hybrids did have a few issues that Toyota have sorted out now and should be taken care on the new models. 1. Gas tank issue. Couldn't fill up to the 55 l capacity. Tank replaced under the TSB all is good now. 2. People complained of dead battery the 12 v. These batteries only start up the computer which then tells the car to,use the hybrid battery to,start. These batteries are not much bigger than a motorcycle battery. This is now resolved with a DCM software update..
3. Shaking mirrors. Funny enough when you get used to this on a bike , you really don't notice this on a car. They have a fix for this. But only improved it slightly.
Positives. Good performance. Good gas mileage. Good handeling and breaking. Toyota engineering. The engine uses both direct and port injection. So no issues regarding carbon buildup. It's a 2.5l Atkinson cycle engine. So no turbo crap to worry about in the future. Interior is very good. Great space. I was able to fit 8 foot 2x4 s in it for example.
My first Toyota. Only time will tell if it's as reliable as everyone keeps preaching about Toyota quality.
I'm happy with the RAV4 and would buy again.
