CAA towing cost for more than allotted mileage?

A long time ago someone on one of my rides needed a tow when they were just over 300km from home. I upgraded my CAA on the spot to their Premium membership which allows for one tow up to 320km to get him home (+ 4 more 200km tows among other things).

I had the CAA Plus at the time which is the one that offers 4x tows up to 200km.

Algonquin Park is ~300km to Mississauga for reference.

Now I just keep the Premium membership.

45 years with CAA and didn't know the Premium membership existed.
The extra $30 over the Plus i have now makes sense. Driving a beater truck and riding Vintage motorcycles it really makes sense.

I'm surprised CAA doesn't make the card vehicle specific.

Different companies have different policies. Canadian Tire gives you the option to either cover one vehicle regardless of who's driving, or one driver regardless of which vehicle they're driving. Too bad they don't have a motorcycle coverage option. And I may have mentioned this before, but CT Auto Club won't provide any of their services when riding a motorcycle, not even fuel delivery.

Actually, I'm surprised they allowed you to upgrade. They don't allow you to use your membership until a certain number of days/hours after you purchase it, so it follows that they shouldn't allow you to upgrade immediately either. I believe they also sub everything out, so I doubt any of the surcharge goes to them.

Used to be a 48 hour period between upgrading and the upgrade taking effect (or getting CAA and using it)... Just to keep people from upgrading on the spot or getting CAA because it's cheaper then the direct tow.

I have CAA Plus w/ RV coverage... Between the wife's SUV, the trick, the travel trailer and the bike - my ass should be covered for any issues I run into (knock on wood, in around 10 years I've needed lock-out service once, and that's it)

Why anyone would deal with Canadian Tire anything is beyond comprehension. They are terrible at everything.

Truth.

Although that line is moving further north year by year. A lot of people born in Richmond Hill couldn't top up their own oil even if they YouTubed it.
Light cycle where are you living these days, or should I ask where are you laying your head at nights right now?

Still dirt biking out in the BC Interior. Lay my head inside a tent more nights than I'd like to...

I fly in to Toronto at least once or twice a year, so if you get the old gang back together again, let me know and I'll swing by!
