CAA Motorcycle towing - Question

I'm still shaking my head. Yesterday I helped my gimpy old neighbour get his Sportster out of the basement. He's selling it on consignment at A.L.Choppers (in case anybody needs a 2 inch lowered ape hangar polished turd). He used CAA to get it there. I still can't believe this is kosher. My CAA Plus allows bicycle tows. I think I'll peddle out as far as I can stand and then get a free ride home. Why not?

Im also shaking my head at the thought that me and my wife have paid about $250/year to CAA for the past 8 years and have barely used any of their services, maybe one dead battery years ago, and even then I ended up buying the new battery from them.

So don't worry about little old CAA, they're doing just fine

More importantly, have you ridden the bike? Happy with your decision? :)

You're buying emergency insurance primarily and other benefits. You're not building a bank account you can draw on. Rationalize away. W/E.

I sort of thought CAA, which I've had for years for hotel discounts ect. was a road side assistance , not a solution for bad planning. I usually get a new bike delivered by the dealer to my garage if I buy at a poor weather window.

This is how things get taken away from us eventually, by abuse. I've always paid for transport for my bikes if they were running but unplated or for new bike delivery. I pay CAA a nominal amount for emergency cover should I break down, not for moving my bike on a whim. Not sure how this can be misunderstood?

I was 100% honest and upfront with CAA, both on the phone and in person. I told them I just bought a new bike and felt unsafe to ride it home, what with the ice storm the night before and whatnot. They were more than happy to assist me.

Thanks to all the morality police in this thread, but as long as I am honest with them, I see no reason why I should feel bad for using a service I paid for.

I was not attempting to moralize of cast negative aspersions.
I've never had CAA and if I was in this situation I would probably give the seller a call and ask if I could pick it up the next day.
Chalk it up to jealousy.

More power to you then. This whole deal is counterintuitive and contradictory to how it reads in CAA Member Handbook -> "unable to proceed under it's own power". Honestly, I would have started a fishing thread as well because I'd feel foolish calling CAA "ya hello caa the weathers bad can you bring my bike home for me"?

I don't know how you could live next to such an immoral heathen. Your "gimpy old neighbour" should really know better. Keep fighting the good fight inreb

Thanks for the kind words. It's not easy being a SJW.

Had mine towed today and they actually sent out a motorcycle specific tow truck. Pretty cool.

Jesus, look at the compression of the forks.

10 mins into my Sunday ride, the clutch lever went completely dead as I tried downshifting. Totally limp and flopping around (lol). The cable moved at both ends so it seems it's something internal to the clutch case/actuator itself.
